Rescheduling is top of mind in the cannabis industry this year. The topic is controversial, drawing support and opposition from various groups of state Attorneys General, among others. HHS’s recently released unredacted letter recommends moving cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III. While this report acknowledges the myriad of medical benefits that cannabis patients and activists have touted for years, it is significant because it is the first real statement of support from the federal government. The ultimate decision on rescheduling is in the DEA’s hands, but hopefully the detailed findings in this report will pave the way for a more open, transparent, and financially viable cannabis industry at the federal level. #cannabislaw #cannabisindustry

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) received 42,910 online comments on their proposal to reschedule cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III. 🗣️The 60-day public comment period ended this Monday, July 22nd. These numbers do not include mail-in comments, which should be made public by the DEA in the coming months. 🔎According to a report by cannabis analytics company, Headset, 92.45% of comments were in favor of rescheduling cannabis to Schedule III with only 7.55% in favor of keeping cannabis under Schedule I.  US Senator Sander vs Drug companies  I have been writing about this inequity for years, but the industry has what I call the "ostrich syndrome" and they think this will blow over . The one thing they have not learned is that once a politician gets involved in a subject they will never let go and the results can be more costly than if they had addressed the issue before government intervention. The interactive medication management system we have developed as part of our preventive system that was offered over and over to several of them over the years is not only more effective in the delivery of care especially in view that 50% of critical care consequences are as a result of none compliance that the solution enforces but can generate more revenue than the constant price escalations, especially given their pricing models outside of the US.
