Racing with eFuels. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will use eFuels that are potentially near-carbon-neutral from the 2024 season, the feedstock comes from the Haru Oni pilot plant in Chile. The up to 32 Porsche 911 GT3 Supercup will be fuelled exclusively with eFuels at each of the eight rounds as support to the European Formula 1 events. #efuels

Why Alpine went old-school with its F1 aero testing https://lnkd.in/eZeAfEUT Formula 1 fans have well got used to seeing cars covered in luminous colours in practice as teams use flow-vis to evaluate airflow. It does not matter if it is bright green, yellow, blue or orange paint, flow-vis has become almost the universal way for teams to evaluate aero parts. However, Alpine raised a few eyebrows at last weekend's Italian Grand Prix when it appeared to roll back the clock and do something a bit more old-school with its aero testing. Instead of using flow-vis to check on a revised low downforce Monza-specific beam wing, it fitted strips of yarn tufts across the rear of the new component (main image above), as well as the rear wing main plane (see below). This use of tufts seemed to be something that had long been consigned to grand prix racing's history books, as F1 technology and understanding of airflow has moved on considerably over the years. However, there was a very good reason for Alpine to go down this route, and it all relates to exactly what kind of aero understanding teams are trying to get from practice running.

Hyundai to enter WEC and IMSA with LMDh from 2026 (apparently) Rumours of Hyundai entering endurance racing circulate for over the year. No firm statement, yet, but more and more details see the light. ✔ Car is expected to be based on the Oreca next-gen LMP2 chassis, the same used by Cadillac and BMW ✔ Engine will come from Pipo Moteurs. Pipo already supplies engines for Hyundai’s rally, rallycross and touring cars. Pipo V8 engine was already racing under the bonnet of Glickenhaus’ 007 LMH between 2021-2023. ✔ Hyundai already supports Forze Hydrogen racer development. ✔ Worth to note is technical regulations for both LMH and LMDh class were just extended until 2029, from 2027. 4 years of stable regulations might appeal to Hyundai. Current #wec regulations is one of the best things ACO and FIA done for a very long time. Grid got populated with plethora of brands, and competition got fierce and extremally close. This year LeMans finished with 9 cars on the same lap, 14 sec between 1st and 2nd, 1 sec decided last podium spot. Spectators could not ask for more. #motorsport #racing #racecar
