"EBITDA up 23%: Arc Inspirations' Shining Growth" In a remarkable achievement, Arc Inspirations has posted an impressive 22.9% increase in EBITDA, signalling robust growth in the bar and nightlife sector. This performance is particularly noteworthy given the myriad of challenges faced by the industry in recent times. Their turnover surged by 16.2% to reach £47.4m for the year to March 2024. These figures reflect not only the public's enduring appetite for late-night socialising but also strategic business acumen. The surge in underlying profits, up by 37.1% to £5.3m, underscores the effectiveness of Arc Inspirations' strategic initiatives. Launching four new sites - including BOX Brindleyplace in Birmingham and Manahatta Newcastle - has evidently paid off, with more than half of their venues reporting best-ever sales weeks in December 2023. This impressive performance set the stage for the company's enhanced strategy, 'The Arc Way', aimed at expanding the brand portfolio to 50 sites by 2030. As the company prepares to open two new Manahatta sites in Nottingham and Edinburgh, and a BOX in Sheffield, 2024 is shaping up to be another exciting year. Early 2025 will see the launch of a Manahatta in Liverpool, with more opportunities being explored in London, Cardiff, and Scotland. Progress Update 👍 We are well on the way towards the purchase of some further venues with some offers accepted and undertaking necessary legal enquiries and building surveys. We hope to be announcing more in the coming months. We are also in detailed negotiations with multiple other properties and it is worth noting that our due diligence process has been developed to manage risk with both our investors and funding partners in mind. Director and chair of the Property subcommittee, Pete Cornforth, said; “In any MVP acquisition we are looking to balance our cultural and social mission with the property fundamentals, state of the market and future aspirations of the venue operating team. Although not totally surprising, we continue to uncover shoddy commercial landlord practices that require quite focussed due diligence and improvement plans ahead of commiting shareholder funds to the acquisition of a property. With various events happening around Hyde Park and the West End during June and into July, analysis into TfL passenger volumes shows a significant increase in flows to-and-from stations surrounding Hyde Park. The end of June saw the start of the 2024 British Summer Time Hyde Park festival, contributing to an average +29% growth in weekend passenger numbers during the festival to Bond Street, Green Park, Marble Arch & Hyde Park Corner, and resulted in the busiest week in volumes across each of the four stations year-to-date. Marble Arch & Hyde Park Corner stations saw significant growth due to proximity to the park, with double the average weekend passengers to Marble Arch during the festival. Legoland and Alton Towers owner to charge more at peak times The owner of theme parks including Alton Towers and Legoland is to make it more costly to visit on a sunny bank holiday than a rainy day midweek. Merlin Entertainments, which also runs the London Eye and Madam Tussauds, is introducing "dynamic pricing" so prices can respond faster to weather and demand. Merlin said it would help offset a decline in visitors since the pandemic. Around 20 of its global venues will see the changes this year. Merlin Entertainments already uses off-peak and peak time pricing which, like many organizations, allows seasonal fluctuations to dictate demand and therefore price.
