Delighted to see the latest 2022 HIV data presented on the HIV Lens website, a collaborative project between Gilead, aidsmap and Watipa. HIV Lens is an online mapping tool which visualises the impact of the HIV across England and assessing progress towards the goal of ending new HIV transmissions by 2030. It is particularly easy to see how each region is doing in key areas such as PrEP access, re-engagement in care and HIV testing in sexual health services. Across England 44% of people were diagnosed late in 2022 and there is significant variation between local areas. It will be important to address these and other inequalities if England is to meet its 2030 goals, such as access to testing. There are small improvements in the stigma that people living with HIV experience but challenges remain in people reporting being treated differently in other health care settings. https://www.hiv-lens.org/ #Gileademployee

On Menandhiv.org website, we recently published an article "𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗜𝗩 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗯-𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮". : This article highlights the critical need to address the inequitable access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment for heterosexual men in sub-Saharan Africa. It challenges the prevailing discourse that often portrays men as the problem or vectors of HIV, emphasizing the importance of viewing men as individuals with the right to health care. By reframing the approach to heterosexual men in the HIV epidemic, we can bridge the gap in care and support, leading to more effective strategies for improving health outcomes. The authors call for inclusive interventions that consider men's diverse needs and vulnerabilities, ultimately contributing to a more comprehensive HIV response in the region. https://lnkd.in/e4aWXPDJ Do you have a published article such as this? June 27 is National HIV Testing Day, and if we are to achieve a world without HIV/AIDS, it is critical that we continue our education efforts and amplify awareness that HIV is not over. Dr. Richard Torres, UHP Medical Director/VP Medical Affairs and board member of the Latino Commission on AIDS, highlights: “The fact is that about 1 in 8 people with HIV don’t know they have it! Urban Health Plan recommends that everyone ages 13 to 64 get tested for HIV at least once a year as part of routine health care and learn about PrEP, a method for HIV transmission prevention! #UHP4HealthierLives #UHP50 #HIVTestingDay

Today is National HIV Testing Day. Although many people are more educated on HIV and AIDS, there is unfortunately still a stigma out there that people living with HIV and AIDS struggle with every day. I believe that if we want people to live safer, healthier lives, we have to destigmatize procedures like HIV testing. I also think that Independent pharmacies play a crucial role in making the HIV testing process more accessible to people. They can play a major role in educating the community about the importance of testing, which can have a huge impact on decreasing stigma and inspiring understanding. #HIVTesting #IndependentPharmacy #NationalHIVTestingDay

In a new analysis published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, Sanyukta Mathur and co-authors identified intervention combinations that statistically maximized reductions in #girls & young women's HIV-related risks. They found that tailored interventions might “be more effective than uniform combination intervention packages in reducing AGYW's HIV risk.” Their analysis found: ➡️ 59.9% completed the social asset-building interventions ➡️ For adolescent girls HIV testing improved from 73% to 83% with exposure to all interventions ➡️ For young women HIV testing increased with education social protection from 77% to 91% Read their findings here: https://bit.ly/49jQ5x6
