🎧 Amazon’s Audible Experiments with AI-Generated Narrator Voice Clones! Amazon’s Audible is taking a bold step into the future of audiobooks with AI-generated voice clones for narrators. 🤖🎙️ This new feature allows narrators to create digital versions of their voices, offering them the potential to scale their work while still maintaining control over their likeness. While this technology could revolutionize audiobook production, making it faster and more affordable, it raises important questions about authenticity, the future of voice work, and the potential impact on human narrators.. 👨🎨 Will AI narrators take over, or will this be a helpful tool for creators? HOW TO GET A GOOD DEAL ON EBOOKS / AUDIOBOOKS In a major shift away from its unlimited subscription model, Scribd Inc. will launch a credit-based system for its Everand reading platform, offering expanded access to titles from all five major trade publishers. The new service, set to roll out in the U.S. on October 30, will provide access to more than 1.5 million e-books and audiobooks through two subscription tiers. The new offering introduces two tiers for Everand: a Standard plan, priced at $11.99 monthly, for one premium title, and a Plus plan, priced at $16.99 monthly, for three titles. Both plans maintain unlimited access to magazines, podcasts, sheet music, and a select catalog of e-books and audiobooks, including Everand Originals. The all-you-can-consume (more or less) model was a major USP for Scribd/Everand. The credits model, simliar to that employed by Audible, will offer what appears to be good value -- especially at the $16.99 a month tier -- essentially giving you an ebook for $6 (once taxes are included) -- and this will, says the company, also now include bestsellers and new releases from the Big Five I surmise if Scribd/Everand has negotiated this kind of deal, others will likely have to follow suit. What do you think?

Are you a book, an e-book or an audiobook person? As a trainer and an enthusiastic reader for leisure, I'm fascinated by the different ways we engage with the written word. I'm especially interested in the way an author's voice changes across book, e-book and audiobook. I retain a reverence for the permanence of the printed word. I cannot bring myself to annotate a book as I feel it distorts the author's voice. And heaven help anyone who borrows one of my books and creases the spine! My Zoom background is one of my bookshelves, which I believe gives more insight into me than any LinkedIn profile. It's also a great icebreaker when people on a Zoom call remark on one of the books on my shelf. I find e-books more efficient for academic work but don't feel the same affinity with them and therefore find them less memorable. You certainly can't put a PDF on a bookshelf and gaze back on it. However, I've recently become a convert to the audiobook and the article below indicates I'm far from the only one. I particularly enjoy an audiobook on a long car journey, and once seriously considered extending my journey so that I could finish R.F. Kuang's thrilling 'Yellowface'. Do any of these things resonate with you, or do you have different feelings about books? Please comment below... https://lnkd.in/eej6AXZK
