To keep climate goals within reach, we must shift the focus to what wind energy can deliver for our societies, rather than just what it costs. Reforming offshore auctions is critical to bridge the widening gap between promises and projects. Without this, we risk being left behind with only plans – leaving our climate in peril.

💪Danish Wind Turbine Vs. Chinese Wind Turbine? 🚧Vestas is a reference company for wind turbine manufacturing, it is the largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world. 🚥Vestas profit margin in Q3 2023 is 0.64% which is very low (although it is improving and turning positive, compared to negative Q3 2022). ⚠️Vestas basically needs to improve in Production Costs to survive the Chinese competition (highlighted in RED).

Well summarized & impactful video, Vestas. To turn Offshore Targets and Climate Goals into reality, there is an immense need to address financial and supply chain risk, both from OEM and developer perspective. Redesigning auction mechanism is crucial for better future.

Shame on Denmark ! 70 days ago, taking orders from Japan, DENMARK arrested Paul Watson, one of the world's leading defenders of whales and other marine life. Because it is solely based on Japan's lies to disable a whale defender disrupting their illegal whales hunts in Antarctica, this arrest has been condemned the world over If the Danish justice system extradited Paul Watson, it would be no better in the eyes of the world than the justice system that imprisoned Nelson Mandela ! Yup, political promises and poorly designed auctions that feed the winner's curse don't promote offshore wind deployment! 1) You can Pareto optimise - better auction designs benefit both developers, consumers (and the planet!) 2) There is massive value uncertainty when investing in offshore wind, leading to the winner's curse. It is important to implement designs and de-risk development to ensure green power also makes it on to the grid. When OSW sites aren't built or delayed, this also adversely impacts power prices, consumers, and developers' ability to invest in the energy transition. 3) Governments need to decide whether to target short-term profits or long-term social value. Non-price factors that enable healthy supply chains, efficient delivery, healthy long-term competition, and long-term social benefits are known and deployed widely in other high-stakes auction markets (e.g. when governments sell spectrum for mobile use) Thanks, Vestas, for an excellent and impactful video! Almost 50 GW. That’s the volume of offshore wind expected to be auctioned off globally this year. That’s also the volume that may not actually materialise as planned.
