Story time!
I took this photo years ago when I became a career recruiter (8412) and have strived to embody its message ever since.
I had a District Commanding Officer who would say, “I want you to be like field corn and not hot house plants.” Field corn is a versatile crop and can grow anywhere without perfect conditions, whereas hot house plants cannot thrive if conditions are not ideal. His analogy resonated deeply with me, emphasizing the importance of blooming where you’re planted and excelling regardless of circumstances. This lesson stayed with me, shaping my approach to challenges and goals.
Here’s the correlation between the photo and his analogy:
Resilience and Versatility: The "Career Recruiter Creed" emphasizes adaptability and resilience, akin to thriving as field corn in less-than-ideal situations.
Bloom Where You Are Planted: The analogy underscores the creed’s message of excelling irrespective of conditions, perfectly aligning with the need to adapt and thrive.
Skill and Persistence: Both the creed and the analogy stress leveraging skills and persisting to exceed goals.
Personal Growth and Dedication: By embodying these principles, I’ve dedicated myself to excellence and personal growth throughout my career.
By upholding the "Career Recruiter Creed" and embracing the analogy of field corn, I’ve navigated the later part of my career with a focus on resilience, versatility, and dedication.
Does anyone have any stories or tips on how they stay resilient to achieve their goals?
