🔐 Happy Data Privacy Day from Login.gov! 🔐 Protecting the privacy of our user’s data is core to the work we do at Login.gov. Here are just a few ways we protect user data: We don’t allow user data to be sold, ever: Personal information that the user shares with Login.gov is not used for any purposes other than to verify that a user is who they say they are. This requirement is enforced via contracts with Login.gov’s vendors. We have a unique, privacy-preserving encryption model: Login.gov’s unique encryption model ensures that users are the only ones with the ability to control access to their own sensitive information We require Multi-Factor Authentication for all accounts: Every Login.gov account has multi-factor authentication automatically enabled by default, adding an extra layer of security. This extra layer of protection makes sure that bad actors can’t access a user’s account without a second factor, such as Face / Touch ID or a text message to their phone—even if the user’s password is guessed or stolen. At Login.gov, data privacy is a top priority.

Later this year, E-Verify browser users will begin using Login.gov to log into E-Verify. This change will require users to enter more information than just a password through a process called multi-factor authentication. For example, along with the password, users may be asked to enter a code sent to their email or phone. - Enhancing the E-Verify login process: - Helps prevent unauthorized account access if a system password has been compromised; and - Minimizes risks due to human error, misplaced passwords, and lost devices.

EFTPS Multi-factor Authentication Effective October 19, 2023, businesses and individual taxpayers who make payments electronically via the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) must utilize Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The primary goal is to further enhance the website’s security and safeguard against unauthorized access threats. Fiscal Service is requiring Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for system access. The new authentication process supports Executive Order 14028, requiring all federal agency applications to implement MFA. This will provide an additional layer of security, protecting against unauthorized access threats. EFTPS is partnering with third-party credential service providers Login.gov and ID.me for MFA services. Following the rollout on October 19, 2023, when you log into the EFTPS site, you will be prompted to register and authenticate through either Login.gov or ID.me. Only then can you proceed with your standard inputs, including your EIN or SSN, PIN, and password.

1moLogin.gov does not verify id within the 5 day window required by the Massachusetts Division of Unemployment Assistance? I was told by customer service that there is a massive backlog of applicants that have not been verified in a timely matter. When claimants go to their post office for in person verification, they are told by post office personnel, that there will be a corresponding e mail confirmation in the applicants e mail box. But many time there is no e mail in order for the claimant to print an id verification as complete. Customer service informs claimants to wait, but waiting takes them past the 5 day window of acceptance and the applicants are rejected as unverifiable by the "Massachusetts Unemployment Insurance (UI) Online Application process". The claimant then has to file a lengthy appeal with the Department of Unemployment. When in fact it is Login.gov not processing claimants in a timely manner. Login.gov customer service is a scripted service that cannot assist claimants when there are questions with id information provided by the Claimant. An LG-99 code comes up, customer service representatives cannot fix issues, for claimants. Applicants are then disqualified or their id considered as ineligible.
