EE360+ Environmental Professionals of Color in Environmental Education Virtual Gatherings include a nine part webinar series where we delve into topics loosely themed around ways we are building a better reality. To focus our attention in this way, we are drawing inspiration from Claire Elise Thompson’s 2021 Grist article “From Afrofuturism to ecotopia: a climate-fiction glossary” to connect together through themes of “Futurisms”, “Punks” and “’Topias”. The theme of Futurisms will help us “envision our own futures”. The theme of Punks will point us to the “rebellious and transgressive”. And the theme of ‘Topias will focus our attention on place and “worldbuilding”. These themes are meant to be playful guides as we connect and network, share and process, vision and grow throughout the year. Each session includes resources to explore following the conversation and we encourage folks to bring resources to share. Sessions are scheduled for the 4th Thursday of each month (3rd Thursdays in November and December) from 12:00-1:30pm Pacific (3:00-4:30 Eastern). "Sustainability is not just about preserving our planet and home for today, but about educating the next generation to safeguard it for tomorrow." No other person represents this ethos stronger than my wife, Sally, who last week was awarded "NSW Emerging Leader in Environmental Education". So proud of her tireless effort to help our next generation grow up being sustainably aware, and supporting our local schools in helping them on their journey to make this a better place for all to live and thrive. Sustainable living isn't just a concept; it's a mindset that embraces responsible consumption, conservation of resources, and the well-being of our planet. By imparting knowledge about environmental stewardship, recycling, energy efficiency, and the importance of reducing our carbon footprint, we equip our children with the tools to become guardians of our planet Congratulations to Sal and Ku-ring-gai Council's sustainability team for their enormous contribution. #sustainability #green #esg #environment #environmental #recycling

In case anyone had any doubts... About finding joy in environmental work! This was the theme of the 5th annual Global Environmental Justice Conference hosted by the Yale Center for Environmental Justice (YCEJ). Joy and optimism can empower, motivate and inform communities and individuals working on reaching sustainable solutions to environmental injustices. "The work of environmental justice communities around the world would not be possible without the element of joy – how joy holds communities together in the face of injustice and adversity, how the search for well-being and joy powers community innovation, how resilience, survival, and even thriving all serve as deep resources that power big change." Highlights of the conference 👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/g7CxpjyN

Environmentalists, listen up. A review of the National Curriculum for England is underway. It has HUGE implications. The decisions made over the next 12 months will determine the QUALITY and QUANTITY of environmental education that an entire generation of young people receive. This isn't trivial, we're talking about TEN MILLION people here, probably more. If the Department for Education decide to leave environmental education where it currently is (in the margins), it will scupper any last chance this country has of becoming a climate resilient, sustainable society. My organisation Global Action Plan, is campaigning to ensure environmental education ISN'T left in the margins. But, we are going to need your help, and your ideas. We need as many advocates for environmental education as we can get. Please get involved, help us shape and run our campaigns on National Curriculum reform. Give Global Action Plan a follow today, and join the conversation.
