'What can we do differently?' is the key phrase that I've been repeating in my head since starting in my role at Exeter College 🤔 I support different departments/faculties with their hard-to-recruit roles, this can range from engineering to learning assistants. It's trial and error and constant learning, but that's exactly what I love to do ⚡ A few weeks ago I was tasked with helping the exams department recruit for exam invigaltors, something that they've struggled with previously. So, of course I wanted to know what they've done before, and what can we do differently now? 🧠 They held a coffee morning before, but they didn't have the results they were expecting and were wary of doing another one. I explained how I would organise & advertise it, but also how I would keep in constant communcation with potential applicants to keep them engaged 👂 So with lots of tea, coffee, biscuits & chats - I'd say it was a success! Sault Ste. Marie - Information Sharing - Micro-credentials I know I have posted this before but repetition is key to learning. A way to diversify your knowledge for minimal cost or no cost. Every quarter I think I have upgraded my skills, or I look at what I can take to upgrade my skills in the workforce. Micro-Credentials "Sault College currently offers individuals a wide range of micro-credentials designed and developed to meet specific industry needs and provide upskilling and training required to fill various training gaps. Several micro-credentials have been designed by industry experts to ensure the curriculum reflects specific target needs within industries. Micro-credentials are short courses that range from 3 to 20 hours to complete. Upon successfully completing these micro-credentials, learners are awarded a digital badge and a certificate of completion that can be shared with employers, social media and included on your resume.  Micro-credentials are ideal for learners who require flexibility as these credentials are delivered online and are self-paced. Learners have up to 90 days to complete a micro-credential which includes industry expert curriculum, instructional materials and resources, learning activities, and a final assessment." #labourforce #saultstemarie #education #Saultcollege

The no-cost Skills for Success rapid training courses that help prepare adults to enter in-demand careers are now approved as career readiness indicators that align with Alabama’s new graduation requirement for high schoolers, the Alabama Community College System announced today. High school students can sign up for Skills for Success courses across multiple career paths, including fiber optics technician and installer training; hotel operations; bulldozer, skid steer, or asphalt roller training; and multiple CDL courses. While students as young as age 14 are eligible for food and beverage Skills for Success courses, all other courses require that a student be age 16 and older. Students must be age 18 and older for CDL training. Each of the Skills for Success courses meets standards for the Alabama State Department of Education’s career readiness indicators, which will serve as a graduation requirement in the state by 2026.
