Bredec Group Bredec Group Southwest penalizes passengers with history of purchasing boarding upgrades: Fact: the boarding position on southwest airines is NOT solely based on the time you check in.
I checked in 10 minutes later than a friend but I was given an earlier boarding position than them, for the same flight. Only difference: I’ve never purchased an early boarding upgrade, but they have. Neither of us are frequent fliers or have any status.
Speculation: Southwest gives later boarding positions to passengers with a history of purchasing upgrades to make it more likely that they purchase the upgrade again.

Recent Rulings by the Court of Justice of the European Union in Cases C-474/22 (Laudamotion - Decision not to take a delayed flight) and C-54/23 (Laudamotion and Ryanair):
The Court has clarified that passengers who opted not to board a flight experiencing a considerable delay or those who purchased tickets for alternative flights and reached their destination with a delay of less than three hours, are not eligible for fixed compensation.
A well-reasoned decision that strikes a balance between protecting passenger rights and acknowledging the practicalities of air travel operations.
