The consolidation of the #SIEM market is well underway - Cisco acquired Splunk, and just as of yesterday (also coined by Anton Chuvakin as "the day when 3 SIEMs died") the takeover of IBM #QRadar by Palo Alto Networks has been announced, probably overshadowing the LogRhythm and Exabeam intent to merge. I am definitely looking for where this goes, but if am to learn from my own experience and history - these news will make both Microsoft with their #Sentinel and Google with its #Chronicle a very happy duo. What this would mean for a lot of companies who are suddenly facing the challenge of "what am I going to do now?" as their options were just severely limited and their choices made for them, that would be truly fascinating to observe.

I really did my best to not post anything around shameless self-promotion. It seemed to make sense to post about something else relevant to others. I failed. https://lnkd.in/e_PfHtzH Cisco stock has been struggling over the last year, up a mere 11.8% in a year where much more conventional businesses like Carnival Corp are up in the triple digits. If you are wondering why, this story will get you there. Cisco, in my opinion, since John Chambers started leading the ship, has never tamped down its acquisition strategy. Chuck Robbins appears to be following the same play book. But ... I have to question how you can keep buying when you can't successfully assimilate other businesses/corporate cultures you have already bought. The story mentions Isovalent competes with Splunk. Huh? So now Cisco investors not only have to green light the Splunk buy, but yet another really pricey buy of a Splunk competitor. Dabbling in the market for legacy network tools suddenly became really expensive. Uh oh ... #cisco
