On October 6, 2024, Thuvakkam hosted a Zero Hunger drive event as a part of the Eegai Thiruvizha 2024 at our Hyderabad office, supported by volunteers from St. Pious Degree College for Women (NSS Students) and local community members. The event, held from 11:20 AM to 1:40 PM, focused on the importance of giving back through food distribution. We had the opportunity to cook, pack and distribute 65 food packets across Uppal, Nacharam, and Mettuguda. Volunteers actively participated in food preparation, guided by instructions on the Dos and Don'ts of distribution to ensure a smooth process. Thuvakkam's intervention in revamping Public walls in Hyderabad! Thuvakkam along with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program has partnered for revamping the walls in the city of Hyderabad for promoting awareness for the general public. As a part of the collaboration we have revamped 1000 sq. ft of public wall at the Sangeeth junction in Secunderabad and also done Artworks on the wall. The wall which was covered with posters and other bills were cleared off and the walls have been revamped. The creative artworks done on the wall addresses and raise awareness on tuberculosis and preventive measures of the same.We used the wall as a great space for creating awareness for the thousands of commuters who pass by. Lauding Thuvakkam's efforts in Hyderabad. On 15 September 2024, Thuvakkam hosted an inspiring Creative Art Work event at the UoH Campus School. The offline event, which took place from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, saw a vibrant turnout of 35 dedicated volunteers from U&I. The event aimed to transform the school's surroundings with meaningful and artistic creations, and it was a remarkable success thanks to the collective effort of everyone involved. The morning began with an engaging introduction about Thuvakkam and the UoH Campus School, setting the stage for a productive and creative session. The atmosphere was filled with energy and creativity as participants collaborated on painting ten impactful pictures across approximately 950 square feet of wall space. The artwork created during the event not only beautified the campus but also highlighted the importance of community involvement in enhancing educational environments. The combined effort of volunteers and students resulted in vibrant and meaningful art pieces that will inspire and uplift the school community for years to come. We are grateful to all the volunteers and supporters for their hard work and dedication. Great News ahead! Thuvakkam’s yet another Urban Forest soon to develop in Hyderabad. Thuvakkam and GHMC has signed an MoU in creation of an Urban Forest at a size covering 43,600 sq.ft at KSR Layout, Serilingampally in Hyderabad. The forest would be created and maintained by Thuvakkam for a period of three years. This comes in effect right after the fifth Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, convened on Thursday, September 12, to discuss development initiatives and approved 14 proposals. This would be Thuvakkam’s second forest in Hyderabad after the Kundikunta Lake Urban forest in Kondapur which was created at a size of 6500 sq ft, housing 1200 native tree saplings in it. On 13th September 2024, Thuvakkam organized an Karka Kasadara session for the students of Nacharam MPPS, Hyderabad. Fourteen dedicated volunteers from the NSS wing of St. Pious Degree College for Women actively participated, engaging with the young students to emphasize the importance of indoor games for both physical and mental development. The event introduced the students to games like carrom, where volunteers explained the rules and benefits of such activities, fostering a spirit of learning and fun. Various activities were also conducted to make the experience interactive and enjoyable for the students.
