Good Morning My LinkedIn Peeps:
It's hard to believe that just one year ago, I launched the first two pilot cohort groups for something I called #AscendingLeadersInColor, a protected space for Leaders of Color to authentically be REAL, to RECONNECT with other peeps of color, and to RECLAIM every part of who they are! 🤜🏼 🤛🏾
And now here we are, a year later and 98 days from expanding 4 Da Hood's ALC program from 5 to 13! On September 5, the first of five new cohorts will launch that month! And for the first time ever, three white affinity cohorts will debut! That's a total of EIGHT new cohorts! 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
My goal is to enroll 30 leaders of color and 10-20 white allies within Pima County, AZ, with an additional 20 leaders of color and 10-20 white allies outside of Pima County, AZ and across the globe! ✊🏽 ✊🏾 ✊🏻
I'm also implementing a new pricing structure which uses The Green Bottle Method. It's origin came from a blog titled "The Sliding Scale: A Tool of Economic Justice" by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. She shares that a "sliding scale is a tool that allows for a product or service to be obtained at multiple price points based on the circumstances of the purchaser. This method allows folks who would most likely be priced out of something to have the chance to take part in it." It also seeks to address the systemic inequalities of race and class in our culture, which are inextricably linked in our country.
If you are interested in joining #AscendingLeadersInColor, reflect on the Green Bottle Method (link below). After honestly assessing which “bottle” best describes your financial situation, determine what you’re able to pay towards participation in the nine-month program, then DM me:
(1) Perhaps you’re well-resourced and able to contribute beyond the full cost per participant. Please do so. Your contribution enables us to offer scholarships to those in need.
(2) Perhaps you’re securely resourced, and able to meet all of your financial needs and wants. Contribute $1,999 for the full cost of in-person participation or $1,799 for the full cost of virtual participation.
(3) Perhaps you’re moderately resourced, and able to meet your financial needs and some wants. Contribute $1,499 (in-person) or $1,299 (virtual) depending on your capacity.
(4) Perhaps you’re not able to bear $1,499 for in-person or $1,299 for virtual. We encourage you to reach out to us so we can talk things through. We’ll do our absolute best to help you join the ALC Movement!
It would be truly amazing to have you be a part of this amazing program! I don't want any barriers to prevent you from joining ALC!

Don't blindly fall into the social media propaganda trap! It promotes polarizing views.
My recent visit to San Francisco strengthened this opinion.
Before visiting the city, I had encountered a lot of negativity on social media about SF and even heard a few things from friends.
That was what I was expecting but after spending some time in the city, I realized we never really know everything until we experience it firsthand.
I felt everything I had heard was exaggerated.
Sure, there were issues of homelessness, dirt, and drug peddlers on the streets. It did feel unsafe in some parts but for the most part, it wasn't all that negative.
In fact, LA felt more unsafe than SF or New York.
I visited multiple cities like LA, Seattle, New York, and SF, and most cities felt beautiful bustling with energy.
So my visit to the USA was definitely like one of those expectations Vs. reality posts. Only that the reality was better than the expectations in this case.
I will share more about my learning from the US trip in the coming days.

In a world where small gestures can make a big difference, let's remember the power of opening doors for each other.
I am reminded on a regular basis that spending a few extra moments to connect others matters, whether it be another builder or remodeler with a prospect, or a new Professional Women in Building member.
When I can, I go out of my way to help someone, knowing that it will be paid forward someday either through another connection, future client, or kind words. It is important that we are creating opportunities for connection and goodwill. I started referring prospects that didn't fit our criteria to other builders years ago, and found it an especially powerful tool after the Marshall Fire. Through this we have helped friends and collogues grow their businesses and watched them thrive.
This year the PWB is also creating content around opening doors in a series we are calling "seat at the table". I have had many doors that have been opened for me by the last generation and want to move into a space where there isn't just one The House That SHE Built. Opening doors and getting women in the room is only half of that battle.
So, let's keep those doors open, both literally and figuratively. Let's embrace the opportunity to make someone's day a little brighter, simply by extending a hand and saying, "After you."
Together, let's build a culture where small acts of kindness reverberate in meaningful ways. Because in the end, opening doors isn't just about what we do—it's about who we are.
Mark your calendars for our next PWB Luncheon, August 16th at Maggianos. More info to follow. Check out the HBA of Metro Denver calendar on their website for registration and more events!

Atlanta has been ranked the best city to start a career by WalletHub, scoring 65.84 points in a study evaluating 182 urban centers based on Professional Opportunities and Quality of Life.
Despite its economic success, with an 8.9% annual increase in median household income and a thriving job market, Atlanta faces a significant racial wealth gap, with white families earning significantly more than Black families.
Efforts to address this disparity include a $1.7 million grant from JPMorgan Chase to the Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative for fostering equity in Black businesses and neighborhoods.
FYI: According to the report Milwaukee is ranked 122.
As we step into a new era at #ImROC, we will be sharing more about how we intend to ground our new Vision, Mission and Values, and what they mean to us both organisationally and as individuals within the wider ImROC team.
Our colleague Deb Owen recently said:
"Working with ImROC means I have met like-minded but diverse peer colleagues from the UK and internationally. I love how my experiential knowledge and professional learning is valued and amplified by those around me in the curious conversations and shared purpose we develop."

Here’s a reminder of our VISION AND VALUES
OUR VISION:
ImROC exists outside of traditional systems to challenge and improve existing cultures and practices around mental health, and to generate cultures of transformation. We want to help create systems and communities that provide hope, control and opportunity for all of us, and enable us all to live well in an inclusive and equitable society.
OUR VALUES ARE:
BELONGING: which includes fostering strong relationships, based on trust, solidarity, compassion and loyalty. Maintaining connection to our own lived and life experiences and acknowledging the importance of community and opportunity in routes to healing and growth.
OPENNESS: being prepared to reflect, learn and be changed by new ideas and relationships. Being curious about what we know and what we believe we know. Being honest and transparent in our relationships and our actions.
QUALITY: to hold ourselves accountable to high standards. To consistently work with integrity and aspire to be the best we can be. To know the importance of artistry in achieving quality, acknowledging that any work that supports liberation is a craft which demands creativity, vision and imagination, as much as it does science, knowledge and discipline.
EQUITY: to celebrate and value difference, and create systems which welcome this. To work to remove barriers, both within ourselves and within society and systems which exclude, oppress and stigmatise. To work to enable lived experience voices to be heard and to redistribute power and control to enable this.
We’d love to hear your reflections, and what you feel might help us to bring our vision and mission to fruition!

Behind every great success, there are people who are quietly supporting it.
🏀 For every athletic victory, there is a small army of trainers, ticket sellers, cleaners, ball people, therapists, and more.
🎓 For every child that graduates high school or college this year, there is likely an adult figure who encouraged them.
🏢 For every clean office building, there was someone who painstakingly spent the night ensuring that everything was put in its place.
🏘️ For every functioning town in America, there is a mayor who likely stays late to make sure that budgets are in order and the townsfolk are getting what they are paying for in their taxes.
And for a revenue-generating team, there are always the unsung heroes in the background supporting their endeavors, like Revenue Operations, Legal, Marketing, Finance teams....and enablement practitioners.
Practitioners can't claim credit for owning revenue successes (far from it!) but we can influence the success by creating ecosystems for our learners, prioritizing the voice of the field, and focusing on behavior change to drive outcomes.
It is through that lens that I'm proud to share that Seismic has declared June 10 to be #WorldEnablementDay.
In a time where our industry is undergoing an evolution, I can't think of a better moment to celebrate my fellow practitioners and the practices who are truly making a difference for their organizations. Mark your calendar for a day of celebration!

As we welcome our new members of the NASP family, we’re beginning their Pittsburgh adventure with fun trivia about our amazing city!
Pittsburgh's “firsts" highlight historical significance and its role in shaping various aspects of modern life, from communication and entertainment to healthcare and industry.
Which of these do you think was NOT from Pittsburgh?
Answer below in the comment section!
Yesterday was our all Talent in-person retreat at the wonderful National Louis University space, with time and space for welcoming, recognition, reflections, play, food and conversations. We are a big team and spread across multiple locations, so opportunities like this are highly anticipated.
-Huge shoutout to Christine Judson, SPHR for leading the large group through fun and interactive sessions (using Legos and marshmallows), and reflections on the experience. Also, its fun to stay 'step away from the marshmallow'.
- I've realized I have a hard time asking for logistical help for these events (even though nothing is done by any one person alone), and I want to shoutout (this obviously incomplete list) of people who helped with making yesterday the day it was, whether it was through thought partnership, actual heavy lifting, setting things up, taking things down, facilitating sessions, corralling folks, letting me have a moment when I needed to and more. Laura Garza-MaysonetJerry Taylor, Felicia Butts, ShaVonne West-Stewart, MHRM, PHRShenise KeelenMichael Herring Art Kim, Toni Patton, Lisa Wrightsell-Williams.
- The people in this photo really do move mountains - the breadth and depth of work, strategic and operational, that falls within the Talent umbrella, is far beyond what I had ever anticipated and it continues to expand.
Organizing events/activities is the sort of work that can easily veer into the territory of feeling like 'invisible work' and I can confidently say that that has not been my experience at all. My boss (Ben Felton) is appreciative and supportive, my colleagues and the larger team offer to help and follow through on their commitments, and offer gratitude and I don't take that for granted. I hope to remember this the next time I attend an event/activity, and I hope that you also acknowledge colleagues in your work spheres who are doing the work of bringing people together and building culture in resource-limited environments.
What a great way to wrap up (well almost..) 2023!
It was a privilege to be able to bring together our Chicago Public Schools Talent Office team this week. We delved into strategic plan for 2024 and worked on developing a team culture that fosters trust, support for our staff and continuous improvement. So energizing to spend time with this incredible, diverse group of public servants! Their expertise and commitment shine through in every endeavor.
Big shoutout to Shruti Saxena, PMP for all of her hard work in bringing this event together. #TheBestAreWithCPS
