Regional students are often at a disadvantage to their city counterparts. If they’re not travelling considerable distances to attend university, they might have to relocate. Throw in poor internet connectivity impacting exams, along with evidence showing students with a face-to-face learning environment are more likely to succeed and you can see why for the third year Lowes Petroleum was proud to be a sponsor of the Balonne Shire Council Mayoral Ball on the weekend. Country University Centre Balonne is a locally owned and operated “study hub” providing safe study spaces in St George and Dirranbandi designed for regional people by regional people. 🌿  “In my hometown, many families, including my relatives, had to sell land to repay loans. Their children dropped out of school to support their families. It's not due to insufficient income but poor money management. They overspend on unnecessary items and underestimate the importance of saving for emergencies. I believe that effective money management can improve overall well-being.” 🌿 During his Firetree Senior Fellowship, Sarakk Rith used his time to explore and develop a youth-focused financial literacy programme to help address the deep-seated and growing challenge of financial indebtedness in #Cambodian communities. 👉 Unlike standalone or one-off #financialliteracy training sessions, Sarakk is embedding his work in the programs of existing youth-focused NGOs who are already supporting the long-term development of young Cambodians, especially those from rural communities. 👉 By collaborating with these trusted NGOs, Sarakk is able to tailor the financial literacy content in Khmer language and make it much more relevant to the lives of these young people and their families. His goal is to create safe spaces for young people to learn, discuss, and practice better decision-making and financial management for their futures. Prior to joining the #FiretreeFellowship, Sarakk had been the Executive Director of a leading youth development NGO in Siem Reap.  🌟 When asked about his experience in the Firetree Fellowship programme, this is what he shared: “I believe the fellowship offers a wonderful chance for you to not only evaluate the feasibility of your project, but also to assess your dedication in bringing it to fruition. It would be beneficial for you to pinpoint what aspects you want to test and utilize the fellowship period for conducting those tests.” #SoutheastAsia #leaders #impact

As part of our commitment to community development and social impact, we at Kalos Foundation, aka Bank of Opportunities have created the “Landmark Rescue Fund” as one of our five projects to help individuals in need. ABOUT LRF: LRF - Landmark Rescue Fund is a one time rescue fund on two levels: 1. Certificate Year Education- CYE - A rescue kind of project for people at major or critical need academically which will lead to award of the expected certification; like final year students 2. Miscellaneous - To provide a financial support to those in need at a major critical position of need like unpaid medical bills that kept a patient held back from being discharged, malnourished due to starvation etc. On this account, we are privileged to have been able to help Bolanle under the CYE of LRF. Electrified and thrilled to the core after witnessing the incredible impacts of CAVSI NGO in remote areas in Sango, Ogun State at different times. In the midst of my excitement for upcoming programs, it occurred to me that not so many people are aware of the laudable effort of this NGO, so let me share it with you. As someone deeply involved with various NGOs, #CAVSI of Mr Hakeem Ariori stands out for its unparalleled dedication to ensuring that every child has access to education and recreation, even with minimal resources. No child truly left behind—Cavsi's engaging programs like treasure hunts, football competitions, spelling and reading competition, tyre race, dancing competition, art days, and more create an exciting learning environment. The children's enthusiasm knows no bounds as they participate in activities facilitated by passionate volunteers and trainers from different NGOs and organizations. In my role as a volunteer and training consultant, I've witnessed Cavsi's remarkable growth. Participants have evolved into ambassadors and sponsors, a testament to the NGO's transformative influence. CAVSI invites you to join this noble cause, contributing to the brighter and bolder direction of children's dreams. Charities are businesses, but unlike traditional companies, their goal is not profit. Instead, their aim is to benefit society and make the world a better place for all.
