The SHEIKH ZAYED GRAND MOSQUE in Abu Dhabi witnessed a significant increase in visitors, welcoming a record-breaking 5.5 million worshippers and visitors in 2023.
This marks a remarkable 70 percent rise compared to the previous year. The statistics reveal that 1,409,947 were worshippers, including those performing daily and Friday prayers, as well as during Ramadan and Eid.
General visitors totaled 4,033,552, with an additional 57,921 enjoying the mosque's jogging track. A substantial 81 percent of visitors came from outside the UAE, primarily from Asia (52%), Europe (33%), and North America (8%).
The mosque introduced various initiatives in 2023, such as virtual reality guided tours and evening cultural tours, to enhance the visitor experience.
The continued investment in accessibility ensures that worshippers and visitors from all backgrounds can freely explore the mosque, supported by volunteers and electric vehicles.
