Air India - कल, आज और कल On a flight this morning, I saw a very unique representation of the story of Air India Limited, over the last 75 years. In the centre, is the Queen of the Skies herself, the Boeing 747-400. To the left, is an Airbus Aircraft A320, and to the right, is AI’s brand-new Airbus A350-941 (VT-JRE), currently going up and down the BOM-DEL sector 4 times a day. These 3 aircraft in a single frame are an accurate representation of the times AI has been through, over the years. The B747 represents AI’s glorious past, where luxury would be AI’s middle name. The relatively younger A320 represents the sheer troubles that AI faced over the last 20 odd years, forcing the Government to finally privatise it. The A350-941 is a symbol of AI’s ambition, and what it aims to (and must) become over the next decade, with Vistara - TATA SIA Airlines Ltd. merging with AI, for better or worse. India will need 2,840 new aircraft and 41,000 pilots as well as 47,000 technical staff in the next 20 years, Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia. Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the aviation conclave and exhibition, Wings India 2024, Maillard said Airbus will double its sourcing from India to USD 1.5 billion by the end of the decade from the existing USD 750 million. He said that last year Airbus got orders for 750 aircraft and delivered 75 units to Indian carriers — 41 to Indigo, 19 to Air India, 14 to Vistara and one to Go First. "India is a force that will power global aviation over the next decades...The forecast is that India will require 2,840 new aircraft over the next 20 years to serve the needs of its growing aviation market," he said. He further said that the A350 aircraft is the catalyst of the revolution in international travel in India and already six of those planes were delivered to Air India last year. Maillard predicted that in the next 20 years India will remain the fastest growing economy in the world with 6.2 per cent growth annually. #airbus #pilots #thepilotin #airindia #airindiaexpress #akasaair #aviationnews #civilaviation #growth #aviators #aviationworld #aviationgeek #aviations #aircraft

Air India’s big brand reveal has hogged the headline space in all news publications for obvious reasons. Opinions about the carrier’s new livery are also trickling in on social media. But among the many things discussed at the media event on August 10th was Air India’s new interiors for its widebody fleet, with CEO Campbell Wilson presenting the first look of all four cabins that will feature on its Boeing 777 fleet next year. While people may differ in their opinions about Air India, one thing that pretty much unites all of its customers is that its aircraft need refurbishment. Thankfully, that’s one of the topmost priorities of the Tata Group, and a massive sum of $400 million has been set aside for this task alone. And while there’s still some time before we can see new cabins on Air India’s planes, its CEO Campbell Wilson presented a two-minute-long video of the new cabins that will feature on the carrier’s Boeing 777 fleet from next year. #airindia #airbus #boeing #a350 #b777

In a significant development for the aviation industry, India's newest airline, Akasa Air, has just made a major move by placing an order for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The announcement was made by Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube at the 'Wings India 2024' airshow in Hyderabad. This marks the first major sale for Boeing since a recent incident involving another Max model, adding a layer of importance to the news. The ordered planes, including the Boeing 737 Max 10 and 737 Max 8-200, will contribute to Akasa Air's expansion plans across India and South Asia. Currently holding about 4% of India's domestic market share, Akasa Air has quickly made its mark since launching operations in 2022, serving 18 destinations. The order brings their total Boeing orders to an impressive 226 aircraft. Boeing's Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Pope, commented on the milestone, stating, "This demonstrates the strength of our partnership with Akasa Air." The aviation industry will be closely watching the implications of this move as both companies navigate the dynamic landscape. #AviationNews #AkasaAir #Boeing737Max #WingsIndia2024 #Boeing #Aviation #Safety #737Max #Mechatronics #Excellence #AKToolandDie #Innovation #Manufacturing #Automation #AKTool #Industry #Insights #Canada #Toronto #USA #NorthAmerica #India

AIRINDIA and its future AirIndia will come of age in times to come even though there are teething issues. For example airindia before take over by TATAs was not known for customer service but as far as Vistara is concerned it is a general opinion that their customer service on ground and in the air is not as it used to be. But these are integration issues and will get sorted out. I will opine on 2 issues here as brought out by the author. 1. Full flights on a metro sector has no relation with the health of the economy. Employees in the aviation sector are in distress with salaries at all time low and unemployment at all time high in all departments. Ex there are about 10 thousand odd unemployed CPL holders in India today and there is no rough estimates available about AMEs and technicians in the same state. 2. An airbus 350 full flight on the Metro sector does not necessarily justify demand for large aircraft. On non metro routes it would be difficult to have enough load factor to justify the deployment of wide body aircraft. Infact there is a requirement to look at about 100 seat jet aircraft for these sectors. I say jet because turbo props are not preferred beyond a 1 hour flight. #airindia #airlines #ame #pilots
Air India - ready for the next level of growth! Today, while flying from Mumbai to Bangalore, I was surprised to see A350-900 Airbus procured recently by Air India, completely full on a Sunday night. This flight has 316 seats 😲 While there is a larger debate about whether India's economy is growing, I am surprised to see this kind of commute all across India. Is this a sign of economic growth? Are you seeing this trend? Coming back to AI, I was simply impressed with this new fleet of Airbus planes added to Air India. Looking forward to this fleet modernization initiative, making a difference to my favorite brand - Tata! Double impressed with their Flight safety instructions given in completely traditional Indian style, with my hometown special Brihadeeshwarar (Big) temple of Tanjore highlighted. I hope the punctuality and customer service is improved over a period of time, to give a tough competition to Indigo - which irritates many with their service but impresses most by their on time performance relatively. Personally, we all love to see Tata and Air India succeed for some reason...isn't it?
