The Bliss Group was delighted to co-host the Women in Cleantech & Sustainability NYC Chapter’s first event last night. Our Impact practice co-lead and WCS co-chair emily porro was joined by Rachel Taplinger (Head of Sustainability at L'Oréal), Tiya Gordon (Founder of itselectric), Stephanie Stahl (Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group (BCG)), Lisa Chamberlain (Communications Lead and Urban Strategist at Centre for Urban Transformation), Angela Oberg (Chief Climate Officer at Rutgers University), and Krystal Persaud (Climate Entrepreneur featured on Shark Tank) to discuss the challenges women in the industry face and advice for those considering a career in sustainability. Here are our most important takeaways from the speakers: - Every job can be a sustainability position. There are solutions and changes that can be made at every level so don't let your title or budget hold you back. - Viewing challenges through a multidimensional lens helps you understand how to pivot quickly and problem solve. This is a valuable skill that can jumpstart your path upwards as you take a more active role. - The individuals who work in the sustainability industry are often passionate and driven, but burnout is real. Finding a group of supportive women who understand what you are experiencing and learning how to set boundaries are essential. We're honored to have been able to gather inspiring leaders to share their experiences and wisdom with us. Stay tuned for additional panels and networking opportunities at Bliss! #TheBlissGrp #WCS #networkingevent #womeninsustainability

Thanks to IE Net Impact for the opportunity to discuss my experience at the nexus of sustainability & gender equality on today's panel! 🌱 ✨ As the global economy reshuffles to account for the urgency of the climate crisis, demand for 'green talent' increases, but so does the gender gap in green jobs. According to the World Bank, only 62 women for every 100 men are considered green talent and women make up small percentages of the sectors that are expected to experience the most growth. Women represent only 32% of the renewable energy workforce and only 23% of managers in water utilities. 🔗 Register here to join the discussion: https://lnkd.in/dJtH39tH #womeninsustainability #womenintech #iebusinessschool Clarity AI

"The research has finally caught up with what we all know in our bones; women leaders deliver climate solutions. The UN Secretary General has published research that clearly shows one of the solutions to the climate crisis is more women in business. Solving the climate crisis means moving away from a traditional "shareholder" business model towards a "stakeholder" model focusing on planet, people and profit. Its proven that women put purpose at the heart of their business and female-led businesses want to serve people and planet rather than just make profit at any cost. That means championing female business leaders is now more important than ever. This is why the Women's Chapter is key – women supporting women to connect, inspire and thrive. Mother Earth is counting on women to find their voice and be heard to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals." - Aisling Connoughton Words like this set our hearts on fire and make all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you Aisling Connaughton; we're so honoured to have you in our community 🙌🏾⚡ As Co-Founder of Cyd Connects, Aisling's 18-year international career in PR spans sustainability, marketing, and communications in Beauty and Technology. Yesterday, Telling Media hosted our first values workshop with the phenomenal Jess Mally - when I say this was the single most defining day in my professional life, I'm not exaggerating. The clarity and confidence around what 'winning' looks like to us underpinned by our core values of integrity, empathy, high quality outcomes, levity and harnessing our energy with weekly work structures and rituals that allow everyone to grow here with equity at the core is truly empowering. Georgie Holt and I are committed to building a different kind of working world. A commitment to working with Jess Mally ongoing is key to realizing our ambitions, as is our early stage B Corp UK journey with Cyd Connects, a brilliant women led sustainability consultancy that helps businesses understand their social and environmental impact and become a force for good. If you're a new or existing business, I can't recommend Jess Mally or the Cyd Connects team enough - they're two vital enablers of building a better future. And my bet for the future? Businesses who embrace positive change will be rewarded in attracting the best talent, the most appealing values driven clients, a happier and healthier life and a thriving, sustainable and inclusive bottom line. When you're a force for good, the results are Telling. #podcastmedia #values #bcorp #femalefounders #sustainability

Accelerating Scope 3 Action | TEDx Speaker | Podcast Host | Top 1% most cited social scientist worldwide | I equip global corporations with effective stakeholder collective action tools to accelerate progress on Scope 3
𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 This year on international women’s day, I am so excited to feature a group of executive women having incredible impact across different industries around the globe. They are Chief Sustainability and Impact Officers. Some of these women include: Angela Baker, Amelia DeLuca, Kevval Hanna, Caitlin Leibert, Jeannie Renne-Malone, Suzanne Long, Shannon Schuyler, Anita Spiller, Mary Jane Melendez, Eileen Buckley, Ann Tracy, Renee Morin, Kate Brandt, Mary Curtiss, Shanique Bonelli-Moore If you are feeling despondent in your change initiatives, listening to these amazing women share their leadership lessons will bring you renewed energy and inspiration! These women leaders come from different backgrounds – communication, change management, the Peace Corps, theology, politics, philanthropy, supply chain management. But they can all see both the forest and the trees! The big picture and the people on the frontline. They are managing the complex web of corporate environment, social and governance responsibilities. Most have been appointed in the last 5 years, putting women in crucial roles in the C-Suite. Their job is to create ESG strategies to drive real change forward. Many of these women are moms, building a better world for their kids. Others come from island nations, suffering under climate change. They recognize that their task is hard, and the road is long, but they are also seeing incredible innovations and unprecedented partnerships. I am excited to work with these women in future, because they value science, understand accountability, and love to learn. They're willing to experiment. The biggest challenges we face are going beyond legislative check boxes to create genuine local advocates and changemakers. ESGs still operate in silos yet with a more comprehensive approach to collaborative leadership companies could empower employees, suppliers and customers to create more impact. We talk about circular economies, but we could also close the human resource loop with more respect for what diverse stakeholders can bring to corporations. We also need to appreciate the difference between typical consumer behaviors and sustainable social good. The challenge of asking people to invest in the future is very similar to the behavioral challenges we face in public health. The answer isn’t social marketing but rather empowering networks of champions to lead change. I look forward to sharing my thought leadership on these issues in a soon to be released White paper “The Future of Corporate Collaboration: Moving from ESG silos to ESG synergy using community leadership science and practice to advance corporate ESG efforts for greater good.” Who is inspiring you on #iwd2024 ? #iwd2024womenleadingtheway , #change, #culture, #leadership #behavioralscience #employeeengagement #organizationaldevelopment #inclusion #future #innovation #management #sustainability #socialimpact #esg

An evening spent with powerful women who are transforming the world through sustainability 🌎 Diversity and inclusion are enshrined in our employee-owned business DNA. One of our core company values is to commit to creating a genuinely inclusive and diverse culture whilst actively and continually improving this culture. This means welcoming and supporting employees and clients with different beliefs, backgrounds, cultures and abilities. One way in which we hope to deliver this value is by working with more female founders and VCs in climate tech. To that end, our Strategic Director Lucia Schweigert recently attended the Celebrating Women Leaders in Sustainability event hosted by Green Business Action in London. Data shows that women will suffer disproportionately from the effects of the climate crisis. Solutions and innovations are based on information provided by men for men whilst women are typically neglected or overlooked. Both men and women must be at the forefront of innovations and the commercialisation of climate technology for there to be real and meaningful change. We want this to be represented in our work and through our clients. Plus, as a communications agency with a female founder, it's only natural for us to embrace and uplift women leaders. We salute the panel participants Alice Simpson and Emily Jane Taylor from SAGES London, Radiant Matter’s Elissa Brunato and Mimica’s Solveiga Pakštaitė for organically marrying storytelling and business acumen, Undaunted: Tackling climate change with innovation’s Alyssa Gilbert for hosting the panel, and Green Business Action and Sustainable Ventures for organising this important event! #DiversityAndInclusion #ClimateTech #WomenLeaders #Sustainability
