In the Chicago region, EMT Officers Michael Emmerd and James Thorne responded to a work area where a spinning metal shaft was not being properly quenched and cooled, which caused the shaft to overheat and smoke, nearing the point of fire. They quickly directed employees to shut down the system and used extinguishers to cool it. Even after cooling, the shaft’s temperature still hovered near 1000 degrees.
The officers’ quick response and fast actions prevented the shaft from becoming molten and causing a large-scale fire, averting a major loss of client property.
We’re grateful for their actions and how they represent Sunstates Security.

The 2000s started with tragedy and ended in hard times. But in the years between, facility managers were able to shine thanks to a flourishing interest in the green movement.
This decade will forever be defined by the horrific events of Sept. 11, 2001. The terrorist attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon once again put security on top of building owners and facility managers’ to-do lists.
“Everybody feels more vulnerable now. It’s not just people in New York or not just people in tall buildings,” said Carl Baldassarra, president of Schirner Engineering, in a 2001 article.
In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, building owners and facility managers re-evaluates the vulnerability of their facilities, along with the structural integrity and security measures. Public areas like lobbies and parking garages received extra scrutiny. Properties added turnstiles, metal detectors and bag screening to check visitors and occupants. Outside, bollards and planters increased standoff distance for law enforcement.

listen to this very carefully & you would know why passive fire protection is the most important thing ? so
when you buy home
amenities are not most important priority?
elevation of building is not priority?
makes of sanitary fittings is not priority?
important is , is every switch of home has got intumescent pad is most important. is main fire door having 2 hr rating with drop seal is most important. is all shifts coming in in the home having fire stops on your floor & floor above is most important.ensuew iluminate sinage is showing you fire exit staircase . Ask for authentic fire certificate of all passive & active fire protection system.
& ensure you have authorised legal access to property & taps have a running drinking water
or otherwise your impression of the show flat will become a showcase for you.
my thoughts so never be under impression
Fire won't happen with me & water is free for me
“There’s a fire in my flat. I can’t get out.”

Correction! I read We Are Waterloo were looking for a new chief and the other day they announced their new one. Moving on, do you ever read something and think, I wish I could have written that? (Thanks to the Internet and 'cut and paste' you probably can.) On the We Are Waterloo website I came across an excellent and highly relevant page (link below) about situational awareness. It strikes me how simple people-security tips can so easily go in one ear and out the other of non-security people. Same as any number of specialisms. Yes, recycling is important but do you want to know the details?! Informing people about how to avoid the attentions of street robbers, that speaks to anyone. The twist, however: how hard it is to break habits of walking along the street blithely holding your phone for all the world (including criminal) to see, as you can even see on the video on the We Are Waterloo home page! https://lnkd.in/gKUcBpvJ
We are pleased to share the first of many blog posts on our website.
In this post, we discuss the important role that fire doors play in protecting lives and property within buildings, and the importance of regular inspections and maintenance.
We invite you to share your thoughts or debate the topic in the comment section below, and if you have nothing to add, we would love it if you shared this with your fellow connections.

🔥 A Concerning Trend: Rise in Fire Clearance Work 🔥
This year, we’ve noticed a significant increase in fire-related clearance work across homes and businesses. While we’re always here to help restore spaces, it’s heartbreaking to see the aftermath of fires.
It makes us wonder if the rise in disposable vapes and e-cigarettes, which can easily overheat and catch fire, might be contributing to this trend. ⚠️ As the use of these items continues to grow, so does the risk they pose when not properly disposed of or charged safely.
Stay safe and vigilant, and if you ever need us, we’re just a call away to help clear the damage. 💪
