#Studio71 is honored to have sponsored the second annual ‘Creators in Action’ fundraiser for Saban Community Clinic! We’re proud to support an organization that provides care for community members in need, and so grateful to have been a part of it for the second year in a row. Our team had a great time celebrating this year’s honorees Jay Shetty and Malik Ducard for their meaningful work and impact on the industry.

Was an honour to be asked to speak at the latest Quartet Community Foundation event. I used the time to talk about the social model of disability. The social model of disability is the understanding that disability is something that is created by society. This is because disabled people face barriers that stop them from taking part in society in the same way as non-disabled people. There are physical barriers that disabled people face. These could include things like: - A sign that someone with a visual impairment can’t read. - An inaccessible building without wheelchair ramps. - A webpage with flashing animations that could trigger a seizure. There are also social barriers or attitudinal barriers, like stereotypical beliefs that non-disabled people have about disabled people. Assuming that a disabled person “can’t do” something creates a barrier for that person. According to the social model of disability, it’s these barriers that make a person disabled. Disability isn’t something that exists inside your body or your mind. It’s something that is created by an inaccessible society. Here at Paul's Place, we work to break down these barriers every day.
"What do disabled people need to thrive?" This was the theme of our latest Behind the Scenes event for fundholders, which took place earlier this month at one of FACE's youth centres in South Gloucestershire. A big thank you to Lynda Williams and Kayley Waller from Paul's Place and Debbie Teml from FACE, who spoke passionately about how they are supporting disabled people in their communities. Access to our regular “Behind the Scenes” events across the South West is one of the many benefits of becoming a Quartet Community Foundation fundholder. It's #givingtuesday! One thing I've learned in my very long time (almost two months 😂) of working at a non-profit, is that from the outside, it's easy to get caught up in numbers. Especially coming from e-commerce and B2B tech spaces, we couldn't talk about success without mentioning ROI, conversion, the hundreds of other KPIs. Of course, non-profits have KPIs as well, but particularly behind human services organizations, each metric represents life and family that are forever transformed through the services and programs provided. There is a face behind it all. So, please donate today, even if you think it is a small amount, to organizations that make a difference. And if you are looking for ideas, consider these two organizations: Union Settlement A little self-promoting because this is where I work, but Union Settlement serves 10,000 people in East Harlem (about 10 percent of the community) every year. East Harlem is a neighborhood built by a diverse population, which unfortunately and too often means that access to resources is limited. Union Settlement provides services for every corner of East Harlem — from infants to grandparents, from established small businesses to those looking to build their careers — creating new possibilities for people every day. To donate 👉 https://lnkd.in/gBwuUPnd Forte Prep This established and extremely successful middle school and recently launched high school in Queens is run by Graham Browne, a friend, and someone I admire. I was lucky enough to join them for their career day in the spring and see firsthand the positive impact they are making on their students. Today, Forte Prep is showcasing one example of that impact by investing in the arts. They are raising money to purchase instruments for their music program, and as of this post, are more than halfway to their goal! To donate 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfiDQ_6x

Today is #GivingTuesday! 💚 On this global day of generosity, we hope you will consider taking one small action to support the arts nonprofits that help make Nashville a vibrant place to live and create. Here are three ways you can support #OZArts today: 1. GIVE MONEY: As a nonprofit arts center, we literally cannot do it without you! If you love what we do, spread the word by telling your network about our upcoming shows. 3. GIVE TIME: We’re always looking for volunteer ushers to help hand out programs and answer questions from audience members at performances! To be added to our volunteer list, email [email protected].

🌟 Supporting 21Together: Giving Up a Vice for 21 Days! 🌟 At Goldhawk we believe in trying to make a positive impact both within and outside our industry. This month, after a short pause due to an office move, we continue to support one of our charities of choice for 2024, 21Together, a Kent based charity dedicated to supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families. In solidarity with 21Together, each member of our team will be giving up one vice for 21 days. Whether it’s chocolate, coffee, social media, or any other indulgence, we’re committed to making this small sacrifice to raise awareness and support for this fantastic cause. Why 21 Days? The number 21 represents the extra 21st chromosome that individuals with Down syndrome have. By challenging ourselves for 21 days, we hope to highlight the strength and resilience of those with Down syndrome and their families. 🔹 How You Can Support: 1. Join Us: Pick a vice and give it up for 21 days alongside us. 2. Donate: Support 21Together by donating to our page - https://lnkd.in/eS9gmxDD 3. Spread the Word: Share this post to raise awareness about Down syndrome and the incredible work of 21Together. #21Together #SupportCharity #DownSyndromeAwareness #GivingBack #CommunitySupport
