For many of us, it is the first day of the Fall 2023 semester! Here's to the start of a great school year! And for me, this is the first week of my first year as a graduate student at the USC Rossier School of Education. What would you say are some best pieces of advice you can give me? The last time I was a student was when I finished my BA in History almost 13 years ago! Where did the time go? #usc #fighton #enrollmentmanagement #highereducation #highereducationleadership #firstgenerationcollegestudent #firstgen

Interesting read and some very good points. There is a high need for more practical career advising in higher education institutions. Graduates need skills to be prepared for the workforce, not just head knowledge on a certain topic.
Love that our LSU Olinde Career Center team gets to be the driver of this work at Louisiana State University. It helps to have buy in from great faculty and staff partners across the campus. https://lnkd.in/gj_6KQJm

Meet Miss Bailey Wright, 1st CASJ Graduate and Class of 2024! 🎓 Where are you from? Germantown What is your home parish? Holy Family Catholic Church What are your favorite hobbies? watercolor, hiking/running, spending time with family What are your favorite foods? Bacon, dark chocolate, berries, and coffee (if you want to count that as food) What is your favorite book? Story of a Soul by St. Therese of Lisieux Who is your favorite Saint? St. Therese of Lisieux What is your favorite thing about Chesterton and why? Chesterton Academy provides a joyful environment to learn while being focused on the Church. My favorite aspect is definitely witnessing growth in peers as we all help each other grow in holiness. What is your favorite class and why? Philosophy has become my new favorite class this year. It is amazing to be surrounded by peers who are willing to logically discuss and study philosophers to better understand truth. What was your greatest challenge to overcome in adjusting to a new school like Chesterton? Everyone was new and coming from different schools when we started; some homeschool and some private schools. At first it was difficult to adjust to the varying ideas of what the culture of the school should be like, but gradually, by the Grace of God, we were able to build a new culture of students from those various backgrounds. We strive to help each other be true Saints every day. What is your best Chesterton memory? My favorite memory from Chesterton was the 1st Gala in 2023. After that night, we all realized how special and important our mission is. It is truly a blessing getting to help that mission come into affect. How does it feel to be part of CASJ's first EVER graduating class? Honestly, it's really crazy to be graduating from Chesterton as the very first class. I look back and realize how providential my transfer to Chesterton really was. Chesterton has pushed me, in many ways, out of my comfort zone. Surrounded by encouraging teachers and peers, I have truly learned how to be a leader, especially as the lone female senior. These are lessons that will serve me well for years to come. What are your plans next year? I will be attending Hillsdale College with plans to pursue a degree in Biochemistry. #Classof2024 #classicaleducation #Dayton #Catholic #mission

For one day, and one day only, you get to travel back in time and speak to your school-aged self. It’s Year 11 - the most important year of your life so far - and the joy that is GCSE Examinations! ❓ What would you say? What life-lessons would you want to impart? What do you know now that you wished you had known then? What words of encouragement and advice would you offer for the rollercoaster that follows? This week I’ve been invited to the Hollingworth Academy, in Rochdale, to spend a day with their Year 11 students. My task: “Can you please inspire and motivate our Year 11?” So, whilst I won’t get the chance to debrief my school aged-self on bad haircuts and other pearls of wisdom, I have the next best thing. The opportunity to provide young minds with the knowledge, tools and confidence to chase after life-changing goals… and I can’t wait. I’ll let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I’d love to hear what gems of knowledge your school-aged self needed to hear? Keep being awesome, Phil #HighPerformanceJourney #GCSEs #Inspiration #Year11 #Motivation #Resilience
