Daily Tip: Parents, don't feel guilty for having a nanny and actually enjoying having the help. Everyone says it takes a village however, when you pay for a quality caregiver and household support person to be in your village, the judgement can be brutal. Here's the truth; your child benefits from having another adult in their life who loves them to pieces and gives them consistent, quality care. Your child benefits when you have someone to help you carry the load, lessen your stress, and be in your corner as a parent. Hiring a nanny isn't abandoning your duties as a parent, it's making a smart investment in your child's health and happiness.

Award-Winning Entrepreneur & Family Advocate • Founder of Ollie Pediatrics • Quality Wellness & Care Without Compromise
When building a team, we often focus on skills and experience. But there’s one crucial factor that’s often overlooked: Alignment with your company’s purpose. 🫶 As I work on launching Ollie Pediatrics, I’ve realized that having a team that deeply believes in our mission is just as important as their technical expertise. When everyone is driven by a shared purpose, it becomes easier to navigate challenges and celebrate wins together. 👏 During our interviews, whether they are advisors or full-time team members, we look for excitement, not just in our candidates but also within ourselves. We are looking for people who can add energy to our culture because the moments will come when the challenges of a start-up will challenge our resolve. So, when hiring, look for individuals who not only have the necessary skills but also connect with your company’s purpose. Purpose is the glue that holds your team together and propels you forward. 🚀 What role has purpose played in your own team-building efforts? #TeamBuilding #Purpose #Hiring

Helping Parents Win at Work | Professional Coaching for Working Parents | Leadership Development & Executive Coach | L&D Consulting
Does anyone understand the realities of working parenthood *less* than stock image sites? 🤣 I've been spending more time than usual lately on places like Getty Images and iStock and am feeling *personally attacked* by how happy and competent these parent models look doing work and drinking coffee while well-behaved babies sit in their laps! Where's the baby aggressively slamming a Magnatile on the keyboard? The toddler barging in to ask you to wipe their butt while you lead a Zoom call? The typing with one hand while trying to nurse or pump? Should we start a repository of unglamorous working parent pics? Here's my contribution (post-second mat leave):

The conversation needs to move away from just screen time & onto what they are doing on the screen. We still need to advocate for time away from the screen wherever possible. Especially for the 0-6 yr olds. Some screen time is ok, all day every day, not so much. #timemanagement

Technical Writer & Instructional Designer | Crafting clear, compelling content to fuel learning and development.
I'm in a unique phase - two months post-layoff from IntelyCare, and just three weeks away from welcoming a new addition to our family. It's a balancing act, navigating job searches while anticipating the arrival of our second little one. Recently, thanks to a tag from Melanie Mathews, I discovered The Labor Club - a community of women who, like me, have experienced unexpected job transitions during pregnancy or postpartum. It's eye-opening to see how many others have faced similar challenges and had to navigate the job hunt with added considerations like health needs and parental leave in a highly competitive labor market. While it's been nerve-wracking at times, knowing I'm not alone in this journey has been incredibly empowering. I firmly believe that what is meant for me will find its way at the right time. In the meantime, I'm giving myself the grace to focus on my well-being and family, knowing this period is temporary. Proceeding with applications and interviews while caring for a newborn will undoubtedly be a challenge, but I'm no stranger to multitasking. After all, being a mom is the ultimate test of multitasking skills! To anyone else facing a stressful career transition or job search, remember: you're not alone. My advice is that connection and support are key during challenging times. Stay positive, stay connected, and keep pushing forward! All we can do is give our best each day - whatever that looks like. #layoffs #laidoffpregnant #maternalhealth #workingmoms #jobhunt

"What does a family-friendly flexible workspace look like to you?" Taking a step back from my full-time career to focus on my family and my now 1 year old, Teddy, has profoundly reshaped my priorities, goals, and values. This shift isn't just about how I'm re-entering my professional life but also touches on a much more broader aspect personally. Motherhood transforms you in ways you never expect, and along this journey—filled with its slow, steady, and yes, chaotic moments—I've connected with many amazing parents, particularly mothers, who've shared the same path. Now, as I dive into my passion project of creating a family-friendly, flexible workspace in Jersey City, I'm deeply committed to making it a place where working parents and their family feel equally valued and supported. Imagine a space where your career and parental responsibilities harmonize. A place where you can engage in meaningful work while your children participate in activities just a few steps away. That's the dream me and my team are working to realize. We'd love your input! What features would make a workspace ideal for you as a working parent? Would it be on-site children's attendant, private nursing areas, educational programs for your children, or the chance to be part of a community of parents who get it? I'd love to hear your thoughts below or via direct message. Your feedback is crucial in helping us craft a space that meets the true needs of working parents. Let's collaborate to redefine work-life harmony!

There is already a motherhood penalty, but what happens when you add in divorce and a layoff, all in the same year? And one of your children has special needs. Because not only are women earning less for having the audacity to have children, but they’re facing an uphill battle when they try to return to the workforce. If that’s even an option. For me, it is not. Let’s break it down: ❌Childcare is not available for the complex needs of my child outside of therapy at a clinic in lieu of childcare- expensive and insurance changes can mean discharge from programs with long waitlists ❌As the default caregiver I always have to be flexible and transport my child to therapies, sometimes in the middle of the working day ❌Punished with reduced pay/bonus and reduced opportunities as a penalty for this responsibility to my child ❌First to experience a reduction in force /role elimination most likely due to the complex needs of the scenario and the unwillingness of the employer to allow more flexibility and accommodation This sounds like a systemic issue - especially since having children is an ECONOMIC NECESSITY. Someone has to do it. It’s a lose-lose scenario for women. What do you think? #motherhoodpenalty #childcarecrisis #layoffs #affordablechildcare #singleparents #specialneeds #autisticchild #reductioninforce
Layoffs happen—we see them in the news all the time. But what we don’t often hear about is the immense pressure they put on working parents, especially when it comes to childcare. One of the toughest decisions parents face after a layoff? Whether or not to keep their kids in daycare. People often suggest pulling them out to save money, but it’s not that simple. Without childcare, parents can’t focus on job hunting or interviews. Plus, many spend years on daycare waitlists. If you take your child out, you may not get them back in when you secure another job. It’s a vicious cycle: You need childcare to get a job, but without a job, affording childcare is a struggle. This catch-22 adds to the already significant stress of unemployment. For parents, it’s not just about finding work again—it’s about balancing financial survival with the long-term needs of their families. Childcare is essential for working families, and the struggle to maintain it during a layoff is a reality too often overlooked. Let’s change the conversation and build more supportive systems for working parents. #layoffs #workingparents #affordablechildcare
