It's not a bird, it's not a plane — it's a drone! Conventional LiDAR can make object identification feel like a guessing game. Adding polarization information to precision distance and high-resolution Doppler data changes that. Take a close look at the photo, and you'll notice the drone with its propellers, while the bird is adorned in feathers. Using #Polarimetry to differentiate between organic and inorganic materials, such as bird feathers versus plastics, metals, or cardboard, can make all the difference. It means addressing a potential threat with confidence versus merely admiring a wayward bird in flight.
