The latest ruling from the Supreme Court pausing the Good Neighbor rule presumes that it is normal and proper for people to subsidize industry with their health while ignoring the fact that companies have the means to adopt technologies that can greatly reduce health-harming pollution. It is simply unjust. I agree with Patrick Campbell, the executive director of Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP), when he says “industry groups overall have argued the cost of implementing the rule is too high, and GASP’s feeling is that we can’t put a price tag on public health.” https://lnkd.in/gcy3C65A

At the close of its most recent term, the Supreme Court issued a flurry of decisions sharply limiting government agencies' ability to implement the law – including commonsense measures that protect our environment and public health. These decisions reveal a Court unwilling to trust its co-equal branches of government – and eager to make unprecedented expansions of its own power. Learn more about how the Court’s recent decisions will have far-reaching consequences for our government and our planet at the🔗 https://bit.ly/4djKQyx ✍️ Joanne Spalding and Sanjay Narayan

@jpmorgan & @citibank are some of the top fossil fuel financiers in the world – that’s why we are calling on them to stop supporting dangerous LNG projects. With 80 times the short-term warming danger of CO2, liquified methane gas is not the "bridge" fuel the Oil & Gas Industry claims it to be. It’s far past time these institutions make the right investments for our climate & future. #StopLNG Read more at the🔗 https://lnkd.in/gB6x94Hv

In early June, the Hamtramck HS Adventure Club spent three days and two nights camping at Ossineke State Park, with the assistance of Bus for Outdoor Access and Teaching (BOAT) and Outdoors Alliance for Kids (OAK). There, the students were able to experience the wilderness and shoreline of Lake Huron and the Thunder Bay Marine Sanctuary. Each day was filled with enriching experiences, from exploring the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, where the students hopped on a boat and toured shipwrecks to snorkeling for the first time in a renovated diving tank they had on site! The kids spent the evening swimming in Lake Huron under the starry night sky and talked about the day and all that they look forward to on future trips! Before leaving back to Hamtramck, the students gave back to the beach by going along the shoreline and doing a clean-up walk before heading home. Reflecting on the experience, Uriel Llanas Vargas from Detroit Outdoors said: "The memories that were made [on this trip] are some that I know both the students and I will look back on for a lifetime. Thank you to OAK, NOAA, and BOAT for coming together to make this trip a reality!"

The Biden administration can continue to cement their climate legacy! Tell the Biden admin to shut down the Line 5 pipeline. Enbridge's pipeline, operated by a multi-billion dollar corporation, illegally trespasses through northern Wisconsin, violating the Bad River Band's sovereignty. This pipeline puts nearby water, plants, animals, and communities at risk of an oil spill and exacerbates the climate crisis. The proposed reroute construction threatens significant damage and would extend this risk for decades. This is our chance to tell the Army Corps and the Biden Administration about our concerns. Join us in submitting a comment and adding a personal message before August 4th at the 🔗 sc.org/ShutDownLine5
