On this Memorial Day, we honor those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We also honor the veterans, family members, and friends of the military who have been impacted by loss and have reason to hold this day close to the heart.

Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do. Janet do not wait for legislation that could force your airline to be accessible but show some humanity and humility to not only disabled veterans but all mobility disabled people, first by starting discussions with your aircraft manufacturers to make accessibility a priority. https://chng.it/XLVWt2Ls5y #unitedairlines #health #wellbeing #veterans #MemorialDay #AccessibleTravel #Wheelchairs #Disability #Transportation #aviation #AccessibleTourism #PVA #aircraft #accessibility #military #veteransaffairs
This Memorial Day, we remember those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. And to the many veterans, family members and friends of the military who have been impacted by loss and have reason to hold this day close to the heart, including our own United community members, we honor you.

I'm calling on my network to support a highly personal and crucial piece of legislation that impacts the lives of our combat-injured veterans: the Major Richard Star Act (S. 344). This act, with over two-thirds of Congress backing it, aims to correct an injustice faced by many of our heroes who have sacrificed so much for our nation. The current system unjustly reduces retired pay dollar-for-dollar by the amount of disability compensation received. Retired pay is earned through years of dedicated service, while disability compensation addresses lifelong injuries. These benefits, established by Congress for entirely different reasons, should not be offset against each other. As Lt. Col. Mark Belinsky, USA (Ret), MOAA's director of Government Relations for Currently Serving and Retired Affairs, said, “Saving money on the backs of our combat-injured is a problem Congress can fix this year.” It's time for our leaders to take action. Let's urge Congress to include the Major Richard Star Act in the FY 2025 NDAA. Our combat-injured veterans deserve better. Please join me in supporting this vital legislation and ensuring that our heroes receive the benefits they rightfully earned without unjust offsets. #Veterans #SupportOurTroops #MajorRichardStarAct #NDAA #MilitaryFamily #VeteranAdvocacy https://lnkd.in/e7gvpB3Q
Join us in our work to help combat injured veterans at moaa.org/staract Along with The Military Coalition, Mark Belinsky, MSA, Levi Sadr, Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), Matthew Schwartzman, Reserve Organization of America (ROA), and many more worked hard on the Hill yesterday to support the Richard Star Act.

My most vivid and most painful memory in 23 years in the US occurred on this day 23 years ago. We lost too many innocent families that day. And so many more since then - brave, selfless people who sacrificed their life so we wouldn't have another 9/11. We cannot be safe without military families. As we remember and mourn those who we have lost today, please consider expressing gratitude to military families who sacrifice every day to keep us safe. Here are some options... 1. Thank them for their service 2. Ask them how we can express our gratitude 3. Volunteer in organizations that support military families Help members of military families build fulfilling careers in the civillian sector... 4. Offer free training 5. Conduct mock interviews 6. Offer mentoring 7. Help with job hunting 8. Consider for internships / apprenticeships 9. Offer jobs 10. Brag about how awesome they are from the rooftops Never forget 9/11. Never forget who sacrifices every day since so we don't have another 9/11.
September 11 forever changed our nation. We honor the bravery of our first responders who saved many lives and our military veterans who fought to defend us. So many precious lives were lost - may we never forget. #neverforget

Freedom is not Free...
On the coast of Normandy, on the bluffs above Omaha Beach, sits the American Military Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Underneath its beautifully manicured lawns rest the remains of 9,380 soldiers, sailors and airmen, most of whom lost their lives during and shortly after the D-Day invasion of 6 June 1944. 80 years later, I wonder if America is deserving of such sacrifice. #freedomisnotfree #greatestgeneration
