I would love to see the data that backs up this reporting. Specifically, what are the market trends toward payor reimbursement that they mentioned? I have seen only stagnation from payor rates (no increases in 5+ years for many payors), even as the salaries for BCBAs and RBTs have skyrocketed. Margins are shrinking, and many of the large PE-backed companies don't seem to have the clinical expertise at the senior management level to keep a sharp focus on QUALITY OUTCOMES, instead only focusing on the billable hours as the main metric for measuring success. I'm seeing a different trend: a rebirth of the small privately owned ABA companies. I have been able to build an entire business this year just helping to coach BCBAs who are fed up with the large companies and starting their own agencies focused on quality outcomes and assent-based compassionate care.

The autism therapy industry segment may see a bounceback in dealmaking in the not-so-distant future. Investors and providers alike still see autism therapy as a prime place to invest. However, investment in the space has gotten more realistic. Read more about what to expect in 2024 below.

Yesterday was World Autism Awareness Day! As we reflect on this day of international awareness, it's crucial to remember that celebrating and supporting autistic individuals extends beyond a single day. Inclusive practices should be promoted every day ! One significant challenge faced by autistic individuals is the lack of understanding of their complex nature. This stems from insufficient assessment tools that fail to capture their unique strengths, symptoms, and their impact on daily life, quality of life, and autonomy. Autistic individuals encounter difficulties related to Body Representation (which affect their daily life activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, money management. By shaping how individuals perceive and interact with their bodies, Body Representation significantly influences various aspects of daily life, including social interactions and self-care. This multidimensional construct, which includes cognitive beliefs, perceptual aspects, and affective responses, is crucial for emotional well-being. Here at UHasselt in collaboration with Université de Namur, we are pioneering a multidimensional, multisensor, and multitechnological assessment to evaluate body representation in autistic adults.  This holistic approach aims to empower clinicians to offer personalized and effective interventions tailored to the specific needs and preferences of autistic adults. By fostering greater autonomy, well-being, and participation in daily life activities, we can strive towards a more inclusive society! So many fundamental take-aways, with principles that should be grasped and implemented for all communities. *Identifying differences in personal narratives and universal facts to assist in facilitating more inclusive and respectful dialogue, thereby exercising effective advocacy. *Affirming the legitimacy of diverse experiences within the community by default, easing the emotional pain/trauma of invalidation. *Intentional self-regulation in the heat of the moment. *Identifying our triggers and being gentle with ourselves if we fail. *Developing habits of focusing on the dignity of everyone involved while handling disagreements. *Realization of conflicts arising from mixing up or accidentally combining "my truth" with objective truth.
