𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙐𝙥: 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙞𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮. Ayana Lawson didn’t dream of working in professional sports. Helping Oklahoma City Thunder players be successful on-and-off the court. In fact, growing up in Alabama, she didn’t even know people like her could have a job in the industry. There were no pro teams nearby. Just the coaches and players she saw on TV. “I was naive to think that was it.” But when she landed an internship with the Memphis Grizzlies, something clicked. She wasn’t just an intern. She was working under Jerry West. The logo himself. A kid from Prattville learning from one of the greatest. How did that happen? It opened her eyes to a world of careers she never knew existed. Before that, she worked at a children’s museum. Babysitting. That internship didn’t feel like part of some grand career plan. It was just a shot she took. And she’s grateful for every lesson she learned. That’s something she always tells young people: “It’s okay not to know.” You’re not supposed to have everything figured out at 17 or 18. Some people are 40, 50, even 60 and still don’t know what they want to be. And that’s fine!” So take chances. Ask questions. Dabble in new fields. Internships, like the one Ayana did, can open doors to industries you never considered. In the end, you might discover that your skills are transferable. And there’s a place for you in sports, entertainment, or any field you choose. But the only way you’ll know? Try. *** Want to make a positive impact on an undergrad or recent grad’s life? Help them grow by sharing Ayana’s story with them today. It’ll give you a greater sense of purpose. And get them one step closer to fulfilling their dream. Thank you Ayana for sharing your belief in students with us for this series. It’s a gift to hear how you found your way into the sports industry and learn from your experience!

The word "partnership" gets thrown around a lot in our industry, but it's not often you see companies put their money where their mouth is when it's time to step up. For us, finding new ways to help our clients and communities is just part of our DNA. Even if that means setting a new standard for what partnership really means. Atlanta Falcons 🤝 Gallagher #Consulting #EmployeeBenefits #RiskManagement #Insurance
The careers of professional athletes are statistically short, leading many in search of a second career beyond athletics. We saw this as an opportunity and created the Gallagher Partnership Intern Program, inviting players from the Atlanta Falcons to learn about our business and experience life in a professional office setting. This program is a testament to what can be accomplished through a true partnership. ⏬Check out the video below to hear from the players themselves! #ProudPartner #DirtyBirds

Check out Public Allies National Board member and staff alum, Marc McAleavey, MSW's, blog post on leadership development! In this piece, he shares his belief that everyone has the capacity and skills to step up and lead positive change in their communities. ⭐ "Public Allies believes that everyone leads: that leadership isn’t a position, but actions we take. Through this, I have come to know that leadership is like a muscle that everyone has... However, when we marry our gifts and talents with the hopes and dreams of our neighbors, our leadership muscles grow and thrive in the power of community."
Marc McAleavey, Community Analysis Program Manager at The Polis Center, shares his insights on how Luddy students are developing leadership skills through the research partnership between Polis and Luddy Indianapolis. In his guest blog he explains that, in 2023, Polis hosted over 100 student interns in paid internships to support the numerous and diverse research and analysis projects they have with community rooted organizations in Indiana and across the globe. https://lnkd.in/eYjfffmu

A rare personal post… I have just been shortlisted for a management award and couldn’t be prouder…! But this award is not with Virtual Internships, it is as co-manager of my son Hugo’s Under Seven’s Football team, “The Lions”. Jamie Kyte and I have been managing a fantastic team of six year olds playing their first season in the Watford Friendly League - and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. There is nothing I look forward to more, after a full week of work, than to watch Hugo and the boys, loyally cheered on by Hugo’s brother (and team mascot) Oscar. The team have faced some stiff competition but they have developed their own skills of teamwork, resilience and leadership - which will be great assets in later life. This is what the club said: "Both Jamie & Dan are only at the beginning stage of their Lions journey, but as we all know, if you haven’t got the foundations correct, there’s a high probability things will crumble as the journey progresses. Every boy in their sizeable squad loves what the guys have created. The smiles, both on the pitch and on the sidelines, at each training session and each game is wonderful to see. Their results haven’t been bad either. Played 22. Won 13: Lost 5 & drawn 4, scoring 109 goals in the process in their first season." Can’t wait for next year!! #teamwork #resilience #leadership #worklifebalance
