VIOLENCE IS NOT GOING TO STOP ON ITS OWN — AND PUNISHMENT WON’T STOP IT EITHER Tragedies like this shooting of a San Francisco 49ers National Football League (NFL) player are 100% preventable — but we must summon the courage to buck popular but severely flawed and inadequate trends and start using robust, ongoing, proactive all-of-community crime prevention strategies, not just harsh punishments. Punishment doesn’t stop crime. Prevention efforts do. The best way to prevent crime is to teach people how to love their neighbor, and incentivize them to do so. There’s a reason why the Good Book places a premium on the phrase “love your neighbor.” L.O.V.E. Is The Answer teaches young people how to love their neighbor. Our programs, like L.O.V.E. & Basketball, L.O.V.E. & Football, music and art programs and more, are designed to work seamlessly with schools, ministries, community centers, companies, nonprofits, and even pro sports teams — all at the same time in an all-of-community approach to crime prevention! DM me or any of our team members and advisors to work with us. Nathaniel "Nat" Alston, Jr. Mark McIntyre Pia Civiletti 🌎 William "Bil" Gardiner 🌎 Randall Nixon, M.A, GCB. J.D. Deidre Gwin Melvin Russell and many others! * P.S., What qualifies me to say these things? Here are just a few examples. I am an educator member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Crime Prevention Committee and a BMe Community Social Determinants of Health Fellow with more than a decade of intense research and practical experience in improving public safety. And, I literally made the highly acclaimed film and wrote the definitive book on improving public safety, which led to being the subject of a 7-page spread in the BH365 textbook used in schools nationwide and honored with the Joseph R. Biden Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. There’s much more but that would be bragging. My calling is to help people learn how to love themselves and others. I just want to do the work with you! https://lnkd.in/ehvHr5QY

"Now, I’m trying to follow my passion to be a voice for those people who have been victims of knife crime and for those who have also been victims of the government’s failure to provide better schemes for young people like myself who lost their path and might not even be here if not those few people standing by my side." A thought provoking blog, please read and share Khatuna Tsintsadze
We work with many young people who are serving knife crime-related sentences. These young people, like K, are unheard experts in finding solutions and steering young people away from knife crime. K, who is 20 years old with lived experience of the CJS, wrote a guest post for our blog about why his voice needs to be heard by decision-makers. https://lnkd.in/ecGVKh92

In a comprehensive analysis of police-involved shootings from 2015-2020, Dr. Julie Ward and her colleagues identified a staggering 10,300 incidents, resulting in approximately 5,900 deaths and 4,740 injuries. The study, which draws attention to the lack of a federal requirement for reporting police shootings, emphasizes the critical need for improved data collection and transparency. Without a standardized, mandatory reporting system, it remains challenging to fully understand the scope and impact of these shootings on communities across the United States. Dr. Ward's research serves as a call to action for policymakers and law enforcement agencies to prioritize the implementation of robust reporting mechanisms. By shedding light on this critical issue, the study contributes to the ongoing national conversation about police accountability and reform. Learn more about the research and its implications:
