I’m a firm believer that it is as essential to teach filmmakers how to connect their films to audiences - as it is that they learn how to make films. What I have called part of the “new 50/50”. In these very broken times - I’ve started teaching various groups of filmmakers through webinars and other forums - today I got the opportunity to talk with the current cohort of Bay Area Video Coalition MediaMaker Fellows - all with amazing films. Last question from the filmmakers was “I see so many amazing films at festivals - that then never get seen again. What can filmmakers especially first-time filmmakers do to prevent that from happening.” My answer was: Plan - plan for distribution - as you plan to make a film. Create a strategy and budget and be prepared to execute it. Start this planning no later than fine cut - but even at rough cut or better yet - at inception. #filmmaking #media #mediafellows #distribution #bayarea

Indie filmmakers don't need just one green light to get their film financed, "They need A BUNCH of green lights," according to Zhive Media Founder & CEO Mara McCann. Mara tells our VP, Head of Content Chris C. Anderson that, "I think the misnomer in the industry is that there's ONE green light, there's ONE person who's going to give you a green light, and if you get to that person everything is going to be okay." See this part of our conversation below, and you can watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/ewy7YW-2 #indiefilm #indiefilmmakers #independentfilm #filmfinancing
