💰 Women are out-earning men in TRUE NIL deals. Non-revenue sports student-athletes are getting more traditional endorsements than football and basketball players. 🤔 Why? While football and basketball players are often receiving checks from donors, athletes in gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, and other 'non-revenue' sports are putting in the work to show up in advertisements and commercials. As NIL was intended, these athletes are maximizing their opportunities. This year’s Olympics has been a true reflection of current affairs. Amid politics and gender-based rows, the Olympic movement stands as a unifying force. Here are two heartwarming stories of Olympians embodying the true spirit of unity and support. Biles and Chiles exemplify this spirit. Simone, hailed as the GOAT of gymnastics, supported her teammate Jordan through tough times. Facing racism and body shaming, Jordan almost gave up on gymnastics. Simone's encouragement and training partnership led them to a gold medal victory, showcasing the power of solidarity and resilience. In another inspiring story, Abel Mutai and Ivan Fernandez demonstrate the essence of sportsmanship. In a cross-country race, Abel, leading the race, got confused and stopped prematurely. Ivan, realizing the situation, selflessly urged Abel to continue, literally pushing him towards victory. Ivan's selfless act reflects that true victory lies in honor and sportsmanship, not just in winning. He may not have won the race, but he became known globally for what he did. These stories remind us that in sports, as in life, we are stronger together. While some sports are individual pursuits, the support and camaraderie of teammates, or even competitors, is essential in achieving success. 🏆 Shatter those glass ceilings. Break those barriers down. We should always be empowering each other and fighting for each other, especially as women. I was listening to a speech at the UN today where they were talking about not seeing enough women role models in the tech sphere and so not enough women are in tech or STEM. There are a bunch of different initiatives that are aimed at trying to increase the amount of women in STEM and the amount of diversity of the women in STEM. This is not just a STEM issue. In general, we need more women role models that we can see ourselves in to increase our ability to dream about real possibilities. If we don’t see them, I hope we can be them. I hope that little girls see these women as role models and that each generation reaches higher levels than the last. A win for women. 🫶
