CALL FOR COMMUNITY VOICES! How do we reduce hunger and fulfill the right to food, nutrition and health for all? WPHNA Congress partnering with the University of Westminster are inviting community members, leaders, workers and advocates from all parts of the world to join the conversation about hunger and human rights at the WPHN Congress 2024. There are two main areas we are exploring in relation to food security: A: Tell Us Your experiences of feeding yourselves, your family and your community. Have you experienced any positive changes or challenges in the last few years? How are you coping with any challenges? Have you had any support? From whom? What one thing would make a difference for you, your family and/or your community? And/or... B: Have you been involved in feeding infants as a mother, other carer or a health worker? What are your experiences, practices and perceptions on infant and young child feeding, in the last three years? What is working and what is not? What changes do you think would promote more effective infant and young child feeding practices and perceptions? The format of submissions can be: ⚪️A brief video of under 3 minutes. ⚪️An email of up to 250 words. ⚪️A photo essay or drawing ⚪️A poster ⚪️Other as desired A film created from the submissions will be aired during the congress and the inputs will contribute to the Congress recommendations. These in turn will feed into future advocacy for global actions and policies. What an incredible week of impactful advocacy for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! 🌟 I had the honor of being part of the "In Our Own Words: A CF Advocacy Day" virtual event, where over 30 passionate advocates with CF shared their powerful stories directly with key decision-makers in Washington DC. Together, we amplified our voices and spread our message far and wide, reaching US Congressmen, Senators, and Staffers with a clear call to action. Our mission was crystal clear: to rally support for vital legislation that could change lives. We passionately urged our representatives to back The Pasteur ACT (H.R. 2940 / S. 1355), a groundbreaking initiative poised to revolutionize the development of lifesaving antimicrobials. This legislation holds the key to unlocking hope for countless individuals battling CF and others combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across the nation. But our advocacy didn't stop there! We also championed the HELP Copays ACT (H.R. 830 / S. 1375), a crucial measure designed to ensure that all patients, including those with CF, receive the financial protection they deserve. By advocating for this bill, we're standing up for the rights of every individual impacted by healthcare costs, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we made waves in Washington, DC, igniting change and paving the way for a brighter, healthier future. Our voices were heard, our stories resonated, and our advocacy will continue to drive progress.
