Meet Nanna Fjellerad, our Business Process Architect from #SatairDenmark "I joined as a temporary employee at Satair on 20th of January 2020. I was a temp for almost a year during the challenging months of the COVID-19 pandemic. In September of that year, there were layoffs due to the aviation industry's struggles, and temps like me were not exempt. However, I still took the initiative and expressed my interest in a permanent position, while my manager was restructuring her team. In November 2020 I was offered a permanent contract, marking the beginning of my journey as a permanent team member. In terms of responsibilities and expectations I didn't feel much of a difference between being a temp and a permanent employee . The practical benefits like paid holidays and flextime were the primary distinctions. As a temp, I enjoyed the same autonomy and had the same expectations to make informed decisions and contribute effectively. However, I did notice a slight shift in focus once I signed my permanent contract, and I began training in a more diversified portfolio of work responsibilities. What keeps me motivated on the job at Satair is the belief that safe flights are a human right. Working with my colleagues to ensure a seamless process from purchase order to sales order, including supply chain, receiving, inspection, and more, keeps me engaged every day. If I were to give advice to a fellow newcomer, especially one joining as a temp, I would emphasize that they are equal members of the team and the workplace. There's no need to shrink oneself or constantly defer to permanent employees. Your value is the reason you were chosen to be part of the team, so bring your best to the table. Regarding the chances one gets when joining Satair as a temporary employee, I believe the opportunities are abundant and diverse. I initially saw it as a temporary job, unrelated to my studies, to fill time while searching for my dream job. However, I discovered that I excelled in the role and was motivated to develop and diversify my tasks. Over the course of the next years I grew in the company, and 3 years and 4 months later I transitioned to a different department, securing a position I would have considered a dream job back when I was a newly hatched MA in Learning and Change Processes. What excites me the most about working at Satair is the diversity, not just in terms of people but also in the variety of work. Collaborating with individuals from all over the world, each performing tasks and jobs I hadn't even known existed, provides constant opportunities for learning and growth." Everyone knows that automotive needs to attract more talent if it wants to remain successful. That’s easier said than done when there is so much competition between industries, but getting out and talking to a new generation is critical to making an impact. The IMI is constantly on the road, driving up and down the country making sure everyone knows how exciting automotive is, and why it should really be on the list of possible career choices. We are pleased to share that in the last financial year, we reached over 200,000 young people via our outreach work, in-person events, and digitally though our Autocity website and social media.
