In the male-dominated corridors of the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry, women often face unique challenges. That's why we launched the Women in A&D Community at Capgemini. Our mission is to create a platform where women can connect, mentor, and inspire each other. Through this initiative, we're not only supporting women but also driving business success. Research shows that companies with greater gender diversity at the C-suite level are more profitable. By fostering an inclusive environment, we tap into a broader talent pool and enhance innovation and decision-making. Curious to learn more about our initiative? In this blog, our A&D SME Elodie Regis explains how we are fostering an environment where women thrive and contribute to innovation. https://bit.ly/3WyavhD If you are present at #FIA2024, please visit our chalet between 15:30 – 16:00 BST today, to attend our SME Zoe Jackson's speaking session on 'Women in Aerospace and Defense'. #WomenInAerospace #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership #FIA2024

The triumphs of women in the steel industry serve as an inspiration to us all. Despite facing stereotypes and barriers, women have persevered and established themselves in the industry, with almost 20% of employees now being female. It is encouraging to see progress towards greater inclusivity and diversity, with more women joining the STEEL industry each year and taking up all roles. The legacy of the women who stepped up during World War I &II continues to inspire and motivate future generations of women to break barriers and shatter stereotypes in the steel industry and beyond. Today, women are found in every facet of the industry and occupy all positions, from manufacturing to sales to corporate leadership. These women's dedication, determination, and resilience serve as a potent reminder that anything is possible when we believe in ourselves and our abilities.

Just published this excellent roundtable on Stéfanie von Hlatky's _Deploying Feminism: The Role of Gender in NATO Military Operations_ https://lnkd.in/eXkhjcDv Introduction by Veronica Kitchen, University of Waterloo; reviews by Jody M. Prescott, University of Vermont; Maria Rost Rublee, Monash University; Madison Schramm, University of Toronto; and response by Stéfanie von Hlatky, Queen’s University. From the introduction: "The Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda, which was engendered by United Nations Security Council 1325, is now nearly a quarter-century old. Researchers have a solid evidence base on which to judge its implementation, and Stéfanie Von Hlatky’s work is part of a now-extensive research agenda on how it has evolved. Specifically, _Deploying Feminism_ speaks to debates about the militarization of the WPS Agenda, where there is tension between the critical feminist desire to dismantle militarism, and the broader feminist agenda of fostering gender inclusion. As von Hlatky puts it at the end of the book: for NATO, the challenge is to “[create] military organizations that can effectively respond to strategic challenges and, on the other hand, [make] sure these military organizations are compatible with the values and principles espoused by the UN” (162). Through the concept of norm distortion, von Hlatky shows that NATO’s capacity to implement WPS norms was shaped by the privileging of operational effectiveness, limited by the small numbers of women deployed on NATO missions, and strongly dependent on the access of gender advisors to centres of power within the mission. In their reviews, Jody Prescott, Maria Rost Rublee, and Madison Schramm all praise von Hlatky’s comprehensive empirical research and wide-ranging interviews, as well as her accessible prose and deep knowledge of the subject area. The voices of the gender advisors come through clearly in the book, and the case studies are rich and engaging...."
