⚡ 🚆 LTG Infra, company responsible for Lithuania's railway network infrastructure, Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid AB, and RB Rail AS | Rail Baltica signed a cooperation agreement on the preparation of electricity transmission networks for connection to the traction substations of the #RailBaltica project. The agreement between the companies enables the preparation of an electricity transmission network for the implementation of the electrification of the European railway line Rail Baltica. Project Update: Hellenic Cables' Cyclades Interconnection. Hellenic Cables has successfully completed a key project in Phase D of connecting the Cyclades Islands to the Greek mainland grid. This project involved the study, supply, and installation of two submarine 3-core AC 150 kV XLPE cables between Lavrio and Serifos (109 km) and Serifos and Milos (47 km), with a maximum sea depth of 500 meters. Executed from January to July, the project finished on schedule with the successful installation and protection of the submarine cables. 📍Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid AB, national implementing body LTG Infra and joint venture RB Rail AS | Rail Baltica have signed a #cooperation #agreement on the preparation of electricity transmission networks for connection to the traction substations of the #RailBaltica project. 🤝The agreement between the companies allows for the preparation of the electricity transmission network for the electrification of Rail Baltica, a European railway line recognised as a project of particular importance. A total of 5 sites are to be prepared for the integration of the Rail Baltica traction substations into Litgrid's existing network. 💬"The signed cooperation agreement with Litgrid, LTG Infra, and RB Rail, confirming the division of works and responsibilities, is significant for the application for further funding for Rail Baltica electrification and allows us to move forward with the work with our partners at a fast pace. Similar cooperation is taking place with transmission network operators also in Estonia and Latvia. This ensures consistency in project implementation in all countries," said Irmantas Butkauskas, PMP, Head of RB Rail's Lithuanian branch. 💬"We are ready to contribute to the success of the Rail Baltica project. On July 9, there was an exciting visit to Dornier Power and Heat in Berlin! A Chinese delegation led by the National Energy Administration and the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute CO, LTD was on site. Organized by GIZ, the experts had an intensive exchange about the flexibility of coal-fired power plants. Udo Gade and Ronald Rost provided insights into how Moorburg and Jänschwalde were made flexible. The guests were particularly interested in the measures for rapid load regulation and the reduction of minimum output. In China, 50% of the large coal-fired units have already been made flexible - some even to 20% minimum load! The information that the power plant units in Moorburg and Jänschwalde have now been shut down was met with astonishment. Finally, Frank Schulze presented the innovative P2M solution for online monitoring and predictive maintenance. These technologies help to reduce costs and CO2 emissions and are a real game changer for plant operators! #dorniergroup #bettertogether #international #China

We are pleased to announce that our Zero Terrain demo project in Estonia, the Paldiski 500MW PHS, has been selected for the list of Europe's most important energy projects. European Commission published the first list of the Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs), followed by EU Action Plan for Grids. These key cross-border infrastructure projects will help the EU achieve its energy and climate goals. The projects will benefit from streamlined permitting and regulatory procedures and become eligible for EU financial support from the Connect Europe Facility (CEF). From the point of view of energy storage, it is essential that the EC set a task for the National Regulatory Authorities to ensure that system operators further assess the flexibility needs of their energy systems when planning transmission networks, including the potential of energy storage. 🏗 Construction of the 330 kV Mūša switchyard starts in the Joniškis district. 💬"The Mūša switchyard, which is being built near the historic site of the Battle of Saulė, will make a significant contribution to the country's goal of energy independence. The new switching station will ensure more reliable electricity supply in Northern Lithuania and will also be an important artery in the electricity transmission grid, connecting Eastern and Western Lithuania. It will also increase the interconnection capacity with Sweden and Latvia, which will enable cheaper electricity imports from Scandinavian countries and electricity exports," said Rokas Masiulis, Litgrid CEO. ⚡The construction of the new 330 kV Mūša switchyard will improve the reliability of the grid, as the longest section of the power line will be almost three times shorter than today. 💡In addition, the interconnection is currently located in a cultural heritage site - the Battle of Saulė. Therefore, the switchyard will be relocated to the north and the power lines will be brought around the cultural heritage protection zone. #EnergyTransformationPartners #BalticSynchro #EnergyIndependence
