🎓 Closing of a Significant Chapter: End of my Journey at EDHEC EMBA 🎓 These last four days in Lille marked the conclusion of an incredible journey, the finale of my experience with the EDHEC Executive MBA. From the intricate details of management control with Laurent Gicquel, to the eye-opening visit to European institutions, and an engaging conference with lobbyists organized by Olivier Beddeleem, every moment was as intense as it was emotionally charged. Saying goodbye to my cohort, my fellow companions through this 18-month adventure, is bittersweet. Closing out with a business game led by Rémi Triolet was a highlight, where we not only honed our knowledge but also our resilience and teamwork. Leading the game throughout the two-day event, we faced an unexpected turn at the last round, where despite our team efforts, we did not succeed as expected. This moment was a reminder that the EDHEC EMBA is also about learning from our mistakes and remaining humble. Such experiences have been transformative, instilling in us a deeper understanding of global business dynamics, strategic leadership, and the importance of a values-driven approach in today's fast-paced environment. The EMBA has given us a new perspective, boosting our self-confidence and instilling a belief that nothing is impossible. It has reenergized us, teaching us to thrive under constant pressure, making what once seemed daunting now manageable. More than anything, it has been a journey of self-discovery, revealing our true capabilities. Reflecting on this experience, I'm filled with gratitude for the growth opportunities, the challenges that propelled us forward, and the unwavering support from peers and professors. These memories and lessons are a beacon, guiding us toward future endeavors. As I embark on the next chapter, I carry not just the knowledge and skills from EDHEC, but also a network of lifelong friends and mentors. The takeaway is clear: don't hesitate to engage with the world, with a handful of contacts we can indeed change it. After four months of relentless preparation, alongside a full-time MBA, participating at the #JohnMolsonInternationalCaseCompetition earlier this January in Montreal, Canada was nothing short of exhilarating. My teammates and I, Elisabeth Raff, Shashank Parikh, and Yuk Lun (Lun) Yeung, under the inspiring guidance of our coach Luca Fiorentino journeyed through every human emotion as we prepared to battle it out against 30 international business schools. The process was intense and transformative, akin to being part of a secret society where only those who've lived it can truly understand (Fight Club?!). More than this, I now know 4 people I can call when s#!t needs to get done. We were able to move the dial on some complex business issues in just 3 hours, leading the competition all the way to the semifinals! This is the power of a team that is committed to each other's personal growth and not just the outcome. This experience has given me hope. If 4 people from wildly different backgrounds can come together in such a short period of time and become a force, imagine what whole business communities could do for the betterment of the wicked global challenges we face. I would like to highlight this initiative from Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics a new program with the following objectives: To help corporate leaders and managers become longevity literate. Understand the impact of the new demographics on their customers, the countries in which they do business, and the careers and motivations of their employees. Including their own. Ageing populations and consumers, inter-generational workforces, and much longer lives and careers will need skilled leadership. This session builds the skills to navigate companies and individuals through it. Who should attend Business leaders and managers who are looking for growth opportunities for their businesses, interested in seizing the opportunities of the longevity dividend, managing multiple-generation workforces and customers, and/ or wondering about their own or their employees’ next chapters. By analyzing their own longer career visions and options, the program invites them to see the broader impact of longevity on their businesses and their people.
