Oluseun Onigbinde taught us on "Understanding the Socio-Economic and Policy Environment of NGO". This is like my favorite class because it addressed my pressing concern about sustaining an NGO.
He gave detailed explanation of how to utilize partnerships in achieving organizational goals. Partnerships help to maximize available resources and even give credibility to your work.
He also emphasized the importance of understanding funders' needs and aligning them with the scope of our organization. This strategic approach not only enhances our effectiveness but also fosters stronger, more sustainable partnerships.

We had the first class with Henry Onukwuba FCIPM, who did an excellent job providing foundational knowledge on what leadership entails. For organizations like NPOs, getting it right with the leadership system is crucial as it lays the groundwork for the organization's success. Once the leadership structure is solid, everything else begins to fall into place. He also emphasized that emotional intelligence and empathy are key, and that leadership is not just about management—you can be a leader in any position you find yourself in as such you must be able to lead yourself before you can lead others.
Franklin Nnaemeka Ngwu (PhD) taught us on non profit corporate and board leadership. Nonprofit corporate and board leadership play a crucial role in steering organizations towards fulfilling their missions effectively and sustainably. It is very important to have the right people as board members as they ensure that the organization adheres to its values, operates transparently, and makes strategic decisions that align with its goals. Proper corporate governance is essential as it establishes a framework of policies and practices that guarantee accountability, fairness, and ethical conduct. When done right, it not only fosters trust among stakeholders, including donors, beneficiaries, and the public but also enhances the organization's reputation, operational efficiency, and ability to attract funding and talent. This, in turn, maximizes the nonprofit's impact and long-term viability.
Fabia Ogunmekan highlighted the critical importance of getting it right with vision, mission, and sustainability for Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs). These elements form the foundation upon which NPOs are built. A clear vision provides direction, a strong mission defines purpose, and a focus on sustainability ensures long-term impact. Understanding and aligning these core components are essential steps for any NPO aiming to make a meaningful difference.

🎓 Did You Know? 🌟
🔹 Only 11% of low-income students earn a college degree by age 24.
🔹 Students with mentors are 55% more likely to attend college.
🔹 Students in underserved communities are 5x more likely to drop out of high school.
At EmpowerEd, we’re working to change these numbers by providing underserved students with the mentorship, leadership development, and support they need to succeed.
Together, we can empower the next generation. 💪📚

'The Call' is the story of how the San Diego Zoo Global developed a new strategic plan to evolve into a conservation organization. This book is a journey of participatory facilitation, leadership and strategic planning. If your organization is considering developing a new strategic plan, 'The Call' is a must read.
I recently worked with author Beth Branning for 6 1/2 months on the IAF's Conference of the Americas and attended her session. Beth gave attendees a glimpse of the multidecade journey of SDZG's mission to ensure a future for plants and animals.

Research shows that student achievement is directly connected to effective school leadership. But what does that look like, exactly? Is it a matter of innate characteristics certain people were born with, or is it something that can be learned and applied by all current and prospective leaders?
Our analysis found that effective leadership is not about personality or style; rather, it’s about enacting specific responsibilities and behaviors that are associated with higher levels of student learning, teacher efficacy, and school improvement.
