Many times the site induction process can be paper exercise done in order to fulfil the environmental Authorisation requirements. It can also be a boring repetitive process to contractors who have set through so many inductions that they know what we are going to say. But for the local labourers’ who many have never worked in a formal environment, it is an opportunity to engage them on how their actions on the project can impact the environment in their community. 8/10 times, they get the message and they take ownership of their actions. As always after the induction I will be given a name that will stick with me throughout the project (Mr Environment, nature guy, tree guy, environmental etc) my new nick name is caspanyovest environment. As simple as it maybe, this nickname will always pop up in their minds whenever they are not adhering to the rules. #ECO #caspanyovestenvironment #MashauVillage
