In the high hill regions of rural Nepal, crafting Chhurpi involves a traditional method where unmoulded Chhurpi is boiled over a firewood hearth. letting it absorb the heat until it softens. Once pliable, skilled hands mold the Chhurpi into desired shapes, ensuring even cooking. This age-old technique not only imparts a distinct smoky flavor but also preserves the authenticity of the process, reflecting the rich cultural practices in the region🦮🦴👊 #Noartificialprocess #convervingtraditionalprocess #makingchhurpi

July’s The Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) Barometer of Trade (BoT) figures have been released and show that the organisation’s members continued to perform well – despite the weather being against them (2023). Chief Executive of the GCA, Peter Burks, says: “Sales in July held up remarkably well considering the very dull and wet weather we had to endure. This was greatly helped by catering yet again, the biggest single category this month by some distance, at +30.35%, and supported by plant sales, both indoor, +12.55%, and outdoor, +11.1%." Food hall/farm shop was up 14.39% and the seeds & bulbs category was also up 11.88%. Pets & aquatics leapt up by 4.15% and gifts by 8.24% when compared to July 2022. The GCA BoT reports are compiled using actual sales figures and provide an up-to-date trading position statement. They are made available mid-month following the end of the prior month after all member garden centres have submitted their results. Through sharing information and its inspection programme the GCA helps members to achieve high standards in customer service, plant quality and reliability. #gardencenter #retail #customerexperience https://lnkd.in/e9NeaP2e

During one of the regular interactions between The Bodhgaya Hotel School (TBHS) team – a social project of Agragami India – and the Livelihoods team of Agragami India, someone came up with a brilliant idea – to use the terrace of TBHS building for gardening! The idea was shared with all the members of both the teams, and was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm. The members came forward with various suggestions regarding what should be planted….flowering plants, vines etc. The hotel chef suggested they grow something that could be used in the hotel kitchen. This idea was met with universal approval. After brainstorming on the containers in which to plant, it was suggested to use the crates in which produce was delivered from the market. Hence, the problem of containers for planting was solved without incurring any expenses. Next, the soil was prepared, and basil, curry leaves, mint, coriander, lemongrass, rosemary, spinach, lettuce, French beans, zucchini, tomatoes etc were planted. The students of the current batch of TBHS provided tender loving care to the plants under the expert guidance of the Livelihoods team of Agragami India. The plants grew, and coriander, basil, mint, rosemary, spinach, curry leaves were harvested; some of the produce was used in the hotel kitchens immediately, while the rest was dried and stored for future use as per requirement. So this little exercise has been a win-win on all fronts - utilization of existing space, growing organic food that enhances the taste of the food served to the guests, saving on costs, and the students have learned an additional skill i.e. how to manage a kitchen garden!! #kitchengarden #organicfood #homegrownfood #bodhgaya

🌱 Planting Basil in Mauritius: A Taste of Sunshine and Scented Joy! ☀️🌿 Ready to embark on a journey of vibrant flavors and aromatic delights? Basil, the king of herbs, finds its perfect home in the warm embrace of Mauritius. 🌞 Best Planting Season: As the sun smiles upon our island, so does basil. From October to March, our summer months is when basil thrives best, soaking up the warmth and basking in the tropical glow. 🌱 Tips for Better Growth: Basil's secret to lush growth? Lots of sunshine and soil that breathes. Find a sunny spot in your garden or balcony, ensuring it gets at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. The soil should be well-draining to prevent waterlogged roots. 🌼 A Pinch of Encouragement: Keep your basil bushy and abundant by pinching off any flower buds as they appear. This simple step encourages the plant to focus its energy on producing more flavorful leaves. 💧 Love in Moderation: While basil appreciates moisture, it's a fan of moderation. Water your basil regularly, but allow the top inch of soil to dry out before the next watering. Too much water can lead to root rot, so let's keep it balanced. Embark on your basil-growing adventure and savour the joys of cultivating this culinary gem. From garden to plate, your home-cooked creations will be infused with the essence of fresh, aromatic basil leaves. 🍃🍝🌿 #Morivert #Basil #TropicalGardening #MauritiusGreenThumbs
