When we show up to bring humanity to work, we’re making a choice. It involves risk and effort and emotional labor. We’re here to make a change happen, and we’re giving something to make that happen. So it’s a vote. A vote for the customer we seek to serve. A vote for the boss and the owners of the institution where we do our work. A vote for our co-workers. If they haven’t earned it, if we can’t trust them, support them and root for them, we should do it somewhere else. Don’t volunteer to work for a partner who won’t work for you. Our best work is scarce. We shouldn’t waste it on jerks, selfish hustlers or those that don’t appreciate it. ~ Significant work is a vote by Seth Godin

Celebrating Independence - Embracing the Spirit of the Fourth of July 🎆 July is synonymous with freedom and the celebration of our nation’s independence. The Fourth of July isn't just about fireworks and barbecues—it's a profound reminder of the hard-won freedoms that define our country and the ongoing journey toward liberty and justice for all. As we gather with family and friends, we commemorate the founding values of our nation: equality, opportunity, and the unyielding pursuit of happiness. It's a day to reflect on our history, honor the sacrifices of those who fought to preserve our freedoms, and commit ourselves anew to the ideals that should guide our future. On this Independence Day, let’s also remember the diverse tapestry of individuals who make up this great nation. From the rolling hills of New England to the expansive skies of the Southwest, our country's strength lies in its diversity. Each community and every individual contributes to our collective identity, crafting a nation that's constantly evolving, growing, and redefining freedom. In the spirit of the Fourth, organizations and communities are encouraged to engage in activities that not only celebrate but also deepen our understanding of freedom. Whether it's a town parade, a community service project, or a local history lesson, every action we take builds stronger bonds and enriches our appreciation for the liberty we enjoy. As we watch the skies light up with fireworks this evening, let’s ignite within ourselves a renewed commitment to inclusivity, respect, and unity. Let's work together to ensure that the freedoms we cherish are accessible to all, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous society. So, what are your plans for this Fourth of July? How do you choose to celebrate and reflect on the day’s deep historical significance and vibrant contemporary relevance? #FourthOfJuly #IndependenceDay #Freedom #Diversity #Unity #Celebration #Reflect #Honor #Community

Let's move beyond diversity: join our Race Equity Series Following the launch of the first Home Truths report, we have talked to hundreds of people in civil society about the need for serious action to tackle civil society’s racism problem. But we have also tried to ensure that as we do our talking, we also do plenty of listening. In particular, to identify the sticking points to taking serious and transformative action against racism and for race equity. As a result, we have put together a Race Equity Series with individual themes focussed on where we heard a need in mainstream civil society for clarification and guidance to overcome blockages to progress and to support transformative change on anti-racism and race equity. We are now taking bookings for the first session on 12 June: Why we must move beyond diversity. It is open to all in civil society, so please forward it to your teams. https://lnkd.in/eeBz9NYx

My thoughts on shifting our ideas of "legacy" when it comes to family wealth. Instead of naming building after ourselves and starting foundations with the family name, we can offer a more liberatory legacy for our descendants. Stay tuned for my article this week that will dive more deeply into this topic!
