As part of National Nursing Care Assistants Week, meet one of our Nursing Care Assistants (NCAs) who help to make Reid Health's high-quality patient care outstanding. Virginia W. is an NCA with Reid Health Hospice. Her co-workers, patients, and their families share the impact she makes with the care she provides. “Virginia is such a blessing to us”, “she made me feel so comfortable, she is a down-home, sweet lady and took her time,” and “with my wife, they talk like old friends who have known each other forever". As National Nursing Care Assistants Week celebrations end, Reid Health continues to recognize the ongoing contributions and efforts of our NCAs, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Student Nurse Technicians (SNTs). Thank you, Virginia, and all our nursing care assistants!

The Importance of Including Nursing Careers in the Curriculum for Nursing Schools. Many nurses enter the profession unaware of the vast opportunities that exist beyond bedside care. By integrating **nursing careers** as a dedicated course in nursing school, we can equip future RNs with the knowledge and guidance needed to explore diverse career paths—whether in leadership, research, education, or specialty fields. Most importantly paths that encourage growth and independence. This course can bridge the gap between clinical practice and professional growth, empowering nurses to thrive in roles that align with their passions and the evolving healthcare landscape. #NursingEducation #CareerDevelopment #NursingOpportunities #FutureofNursing

What is in a name? For many years, Ohio providers have referred to our nursing assistants as "State-tested nursing assistants" or "STNAs". Meanwhile, most of the country refer to them as "certified nursing assistants" or "CNAs". Our nursing assistants are more than just state-tested. They complete a rigorous course of study and earn a certification by demonstrating competencies in their profession. It is past time that we honor our nursing assistants with a title more befitting their accomplishments. Senate Bill 144 accomplished effectively changing this designation for our nursing assistants to CNAs. As long term care providers, we will need to update our job descriptions and policies as well as educate our staff on this change in professional designation. Help OHCA spread the word on this important change in how we view the backbone to our profession- our Certified Nursing Assistants! #CNAOhio #LongTermCare
