Chief Executive Officer @ Cubiscan | I work with automated dimension scanning & weighing technology to create efficiency in warehousing, transportation and logistics operations.

Currently, P&D trailers make use of only about 55% of their available cubic space. To improve efficiency, cut shipping costs, and promote environmental sustainability, both shippers and carriers can take a few straightforward steps: 1. Carriers should encourage shippers to optimize their palletized freight. For example, using taller pallets instead of two shorter ones, selecting appropriately sized pallets, or even shipping without pallets when feasible can make better use of the trailer's cubic space. 2. Shippers can provide carriers with dimensional information and other shipment details ahead of time. This allows carriers to plan asset utilization more effectively and select the appropriate truck sizes for pickups and deliveries. By fostering better communication and a collaborative relationship, both parties can benefit; carriers achieve higher margins, and shippers reduce freight costs. It’s a win-win situation!
