Avoiding the work you know you should do? Another day of just not feeling it? Sit at the desk. Dont sit with any specific task in mind. Turn on the computer. Click on LinkedIn. Scroll. Read a few posts. Feel anything yet? Go to the task you know you should do. If it is writing, type. Type what you did today. How did you feel while driving? What did you eat? What mood were you in as you woke up this morning? This way you have things to write without having to feel creative. You get yourself into the act of writing. Then the routine of writing. Before you know it, the productive feeling leads to actually doing the task. This can be especially effective if you have an 8 to 5 from which you come home, just wanting to lie on your bed, not feeling like doing anything on your computer after a long day. Yet, the work on your home computer after work, done with consistency, can change your life. I have found it effective in getting my mind where it needs to be to bring consistency.
