The Global Burden of Disease estimates lead exposure causes 900,000 deaths per year, while a more recent The World Bank analysis suggests that an estimated 5.5 million adults die annually from cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to lead exposure. With over 90% of cardiovascular disease deaths and 95% of IQ point losses attributed to lead exposure occurring in low- and middle-income countries, it's time for global health priorities to align with the scale of this issue. Diabetes and cardiovascular disease, these two silent assailants, often go hand in hand, forming a deadly duo that wreaks havoc on the health of millions worldwide. As diabetes elevates blood sugar levels, it silently damages blood vessels, paving the way for cardiovascular complications. Together, they pose a formidable threat, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive prevention and management strategies. Tomorrow marks #WorldHypertensionDay, a disease that affects an estimated 1.3 billion worldwide, and contributes to approximately 10 million deaths every year.1,2 When blood pressure is higher than it should be (known as ‘hypertension’) for too long it can cause damage to the blood vessels, impacting both the heart and kidneys. This year I want to highlight our mission to decrease the burden of cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, by encouraging a more holistic approach to care. By understanding the interconnections of these conditions, our #BeyondPressure campaign aims to help raise awareness on the burden of hypertension, its cardiorenal complications, and the importance of its control and risk management. Through this campaign, we were able to reach more than 125 million people and we remain committed to continue the journey and improve cardiorenal patient’s care. #WorldHypertensionDay #BeyondPressure

Approximately 620 million individuals worldwide are currently living with heart and circulatory diseases. This number has been increasing due to evolving lifestyles, an ageing and expanding population, and improved survival rates from heart attacks and strokes. If these trends persist, the number is expected to continue rising. Globally, it is estimated that 1 in 13 people live with a heart or circulatory disease. In 2019, there were more women than men living with these conditions, with approximately 290 million women (53 percent) and 260 million men affected. In 1990, an estimated 285 million people globally were living with heart and circulatory diseases. By 2000, this number had risen to 350 million, and by 2010, it exceeded 430 million. The good news is, As much as 80% of cardiovascular disease can be prevented if we create better infrastructure, expand access to care, rethink the ways we produce and consume food and clean up the air we breathe. — Professor Fausto Pinto, President of the World Heart Federation (WHF) #heartDiseases #no1causeOfDeath #healthString #sugarStringsAi

🩺 Early detection is CRITICAL! Early detection of biochemical markers allows for timely intervention and the prevention of diseases before they become major issues. Unfortunately, most people don’t get tested until a disease has already started causing problems. Did you know that 50% of heart attack patients had a normal standard lipid profile on the day of their heart attack? Don't wait for symptoms to take action—get tested now and take control of your health! #PreventiveHealth #EarlyDetection #HeartHealth
