Recently, our Corporate Retail Team took a hands-on approach by managing a store's operations for a day. This all-encompassing experience was not just an activity but a strategic initiative aimed at gaining invaluable insights into retail dynamics.   By actively engaging with customers and products, we aimed to understand their needs and behaviors better. This initiative promoted empathy and provided first-hand experience of the challenges faced by our front-line team members.   And the results were remarkable. We witnessed a significant 60% growth in net sales, with key metrics like ATV and UPT experiencing a notable 14% increase. Moreover, our conversion rate reached an impressive 13%. 💥Today, I want to acknowledge Puma! 👉🏻Here's why. 👍🏻Last year, I visited my family in Italy. You may not know this, but my brother is a National Champion cross-country runner in his category, having pursued it for over 20 years! Over this time, you can only imagine the number of pairs of running shoes he's gone through and the various brands he's tried. I distinctly remember him mentioning Mizuno at some point in his career, the go-to for a great running experience. However, everything changes and evolves, and it seems Puma has now taken the lead. 🚀They invest a lot of time researching and experimenting with the best materials and shapes to create the ultimate training experience for running. 💯It's truly incredible how much effort goes into this. And you know what? 👉🏻It's totally worth it. I now own a pair of Pumas, and they are absolutely my favorite, making my walks and runs so enjoyable and motivating me to push myself further. ✅See, this is the lesson you can take from Puma. Don't sit back and stay passive with your brand. Things keep evolving, and people are constantly seeking the best experiences. So, keep experimenting and tailor your brand experience to meet your audience's needs, making it memorable and irresistible. 💗Don't have a brand or a business? Puma's Giant Leap Two Dassler brothers, Adolf and Rudolf, once fought a bitter battle leading to the creation of two iconic brands- Adidas and Puma. Recently we were honored to host Shreya Sachdev, Head of Marketing, India at PUMA Group. We chatted about Puma's unprecedented success in India and lessons for young marketing managers. Some takeaways for me 1, As 60% of customers in physical stores are return customers, you create stores more as experience centres. 2. While #influencermarketing is gaining ground, you do not need them for all running products. 3. The rise of 'sneakers as collectibles' enthusiasts ( reminded me of the comeback of vinyl records in Europe) 4. Rise of 'reseller' websites crating challenge for brands 5. This one is close to my heart- 'building purposeful brands'- inclusivity- like promoting transgender models as icons- promoting women's cricket and sports like Kabbadi ( second most watched sport in India !)- sponsoring para olympics. All these moves are long term and sustainability driven that will lead to brand success. So, not a surprise, that Puma's giant leap has left many vaunted rivals wondering. (Adolf Dassler, founder of ADIDAS would be unhappy in his grave. But not for the first time. Many years back, the two companies tried to agree on something known as the *Pele Pact* involving the legendary Brazilian footballer. Do you know what that was and what happened finally?)
