This is the new Nike x Patta Running Team Collection. 👑 As shared by Kyle Knudsen and Sebastian Niemeyer, Nike and Patta Exclusive Sneakers BV. have collaborated on a performance apparel collection that tapped into the Patta Running Team community, and highlighted Patta’s cofounder Edson Sabajo love and passion for running. 🏃♂️The Patta Running Team started in 2010 in Amsterdam with a powerful vision: to bring together friends, family, and running enthusiasts alike. So, what started as creatives and casual local runners, is currently a movement based on individuals from various backgrounds, encompassing different running paces and intensities who explore new places together and, above all, have fun. 👀 The collection was spotted in the NBA, in Milan during the Design Week and at the London Marathon highlighting the trend that there are blurred borders between running and fashion. 🌎 Thinking local is no longer separate from a global strategy mindset. As written by Gemma Jones on MediaCat Magazine, many brands are now embracing city-based strategies as a new way to increase authenticity. ⚡️⚡️⚡️Takeaway: we are reaching fever-pitch levels of run-mania. According to Strava, running is the most popular sport and the share of athletes uploading runs increased by 4%. In this scenario, running clubs are today’s biggest driver due to their approach focused on creating IRL communities with events and cool custom apparel. Apparel industry friends: Why, when a brand is it's own primary retail outlet (online and in-store), does significant, continuous, overstock happen? Can a brand, which seems permanently on sale, recover? Does a brand have the ability to make a comeback in the eyes of the target audience (customer)? Burberry managed it. Luxottica are about to attempt it with Supreme (for reasons other than overstock). Nike is wading through the process (if you believe what you read, which, lets face it, isn't exactly the most reliable barometer). Can we help adidas understand what is wrong with releasing shoes that are specially designed to last just one race, providing ultra-rich runners with an unfair advantage over all other mortals? Let’s pause for a minute and give it up for adidas 👏👏 smashing a technological innovation barrier and launching the lightest shoe ever that helps you win marathons. BUT, why on earth do you want to make this a new line and sell millions of #singleuse shoes to consumers. Add to the garbage pile while pretending to be planet friendly 😡 You had a workaround. What if you sold only a few hundred of these pro-shoes to prospective olympians and helped them win more races? A) It would help build your brand B) spike demand for all your lines and C) keep the environmentally dirty shoes out of reach for consumers That could have been a win-win. But hell no. Let’s take the easy way out, shall we? Lets go for a run with your single use shoes while you plant a 🌳 for us in return. 👏👏

Single-Use sneaker, anyone?🔥🩰 Ever since Tigist Assefa won the Berlin Marathon in world-record pace, the running world has been fixating on her super-shoe that she wore for the marathon. Enter the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, the world's first running shoe priced at an eye-watering US$500, and the world's first shoe designed for ONE marathon race only. For those who don't know, a marathon race is 42.195km long. A typical pair of running shoes lasts between 500-1,000km before its performance visibly degrades. This one is designed to degrade in 42.195km. Not only will this shoe be insanely priced (either on a per km basis, but also on an absolute basis), it represents the height of sustainability insanity. It almost makes me support those environmentalist fanatics who tried to throw paint at that marathon. Is this something the running world, or the wider world, should want?
