Thank you to Marty Hauser, Frank Lordeman, Tom Strauss and the entire CEO Healthcare Roundtable organization for inviting me to join, share, and engage at their recent conference in Scottsdale. I’m feeling invigorated and inspired to keep pushing health care forward.   Below are three takeaways from the talk they asked me to deliver on how to both work in an integrated provider/payer environment and maintain a clinician focused culture.  🤝 Payers and providers working together is critical in delivering the best care to our patients.  Having the appropriate physician leadership in both the provider and payer organization creates an environment where they can work together to develop products and move value-based care forward in a meaningful way.     👩🏾⚕️ Leaders should work tirelessly to create an environment where clinicians can do what they do best - focus on their patients. We should always be working to give relief to our primary care clinicians by surrounding them with the right support personnel.  If/when the providers get “burned out”, it’s difficult to recover.     🚑 Focus on the patients that often arrive at our Emergency Departments to receive care that should have been provided elsewhere. The costs are huge and avoidable. This requires a truly integrated approach with social and behavioral health resources and dedicated time and focus to get it right. #valuebasedcare #leadership #culture #healthcare

These facilities are incentivized to focus on patient outcomes rather than the volume of services provided. This can lead to enhancements in care coordination, patient safety, and overall quality of life for residents. However, it also puts pressure on these facilities to adapt their practices and infrastructure to meet these new standards, which may require investments in technology, staff training, and process improvement. Overall, the shift towards value-based care encourages a more holistic approach to healthcare delivery in these settings.
