Whilst some airlines have yet to attempt any use of any kinds of dynamic offers, a number of global airlines have invested millions in new technology to deliver more than just dynamic prices. They are generating truly dynamic offers that include ancillaries and other product elements. During these times, airlines cannot just rely on its existing rules-based offer systems for enabling dynamic offers - they need to build out their own data science capabilities or engage with vendors who can work with these very large data sets. This also requires more micro-segmented data with additional context to drive personalised, dynamic offers. Check out my recent opinion piece for PhocusWire. It might sound strange that we, ATPCO, say airlines must move beyond filed fares, but it shouldn't. Above all, we are committed to helping airlines evolve and adapt quickly, not to hold them back or slow them down with legacy processes or formats. ATPCO is modernizing along with the industry by helping airlines to evolve and embrace modern retailing and dynamic offer creation. #airlinepricing #dynamicpricing #dynamicoffers #airlines #filedfares https://lnkd.in/grw7Em6n

10 years ago I raised the question of the relevance of a central airfare database in a world of API connectivity between air travel suppliers and sellers. Today's opinion piece by ATPCO's Rich Kassner in PhocusWire provides some answers related to Dynamic Offers: 👉 "global airlines have invested millions in new technology to deliver more than just dynamic prices. They are generating truly dynamic offers that include ancillaries and other product elements" => Agreed, the product and the price are determined dynamically by airlines for more relevance to customers 👉 "Airlines cannot just rely on its existing rules-based offer systems" => fully agreed, AI can help identify patterns and trends, and generate relevant offers with higher conversion ratios 🤗 👉 "The leading-edge airlines are employing both dynamic price adjustment and adjusting the content" => hmmm, if an airline knows the ideal (bid) price in real-time (based on demand forecast, remaining capacity, and other inputs), why would they need to find a fare from which to make an adjustment? 🤔 👉 "The product catalog contains all the individual items that can comprise an offer. (...) This catalog of products separated from prices has three separate but related use cases" => Indeed, while products have relatively stable attributes, prices can be completely dynamic, reflecting supply and demand in real-time 👉 "Having access to records of other filed fares provides insights that advertisers can use for competitive pricing and positioning" => respectfully, no... filed fares may be displayed or not, sold or not, ... at best they can support fixed price deals, at worst they may look like competitors aligned on prices... 🙈 #Offersandorders #airlineretailing #productcatalogue https://lnkd.in/eDqCG8JJ

Recently, the use of two pricing strategies – dynamic pricing and dynamic bundling – has become increasingly popular in the airline industry. These methods are designed to optimize revenue and provide passengers with more personalized price options. Our Avtra PSS system, which is a new-age Offer-Order-Settle-Delivery (OOSD) based system, employs both techniques, and we were recently approached to provide more in-depth information on these exciting system features on offer. Here's a quick explanation of each strategy: Dynamic Pricing: This strategy involves adjusting ticket prices in real-time based on various factors, such as demand, time until departure, seat availability, historical data, and competitive factors. The goal is to charge higher prices when demand is strong and offer discounts to fill empty seats. Dynamic pricing enables airlines to maximize revenue and passengers may find that prices for the same flight can vary significantly depending on when they book and how full the flight is. Dynamic Bundling: This strategy involves creating customized products by bundling the fare with various services or perks together, such as baggage allowance, in-flight meals, seat selection, post booking flexibilities and priority boarding. These bundles are personalized based on customer preferences and their "willingness to pay (WTP)". Dynamic bundling benefits both the airline and the passengers. Airlines can increase their ancillary revenue by selling additional services, while passengers may find it more convenient to purchase all the services they need in a single package, often at a discounted price compared to buying each service individually. By using data analytics, machine learning and customer segmentation, airlines can offer bundles that are attractive to specific market segments. For example, a business traveler may prefer a bundle that includes a flexible ticket, extra legroom seats, and priority services, while a leisure traveler may opt for a package with checked baggage and in-flight entertainment. Whatever the requirement, choice or preference, Avtra’s PSS is at your profitable service! #airlinedistribution #airlineretailing #plan #book #journey #flight #dynamicbundling #dynamicpricing #individualpreferences #shorterpurchasingprocesses #higherconversionrate #passengers #travelpackage #respectfulengagement #transparency #AvtraPSS
