I mentioned in another post that while filming season 14 of The Blox, I was inspired by several extraordinarily successful entrepreneurs to create something new. Through watching other entrepreneurs present their brilliant creations in the business world, I saw an alarming trend. The majority of new businesses and startups are excluding a very large, and growing, population: gender non-conforming folks. As of last year, 1 of every 5 youth identify themself as part of the LBGTQ community. Of the youth in said community, 1 in 4 identify as nonbinary. As our children line up for PE class in 2 lines: boys or girls- health class, sports teams, bathrooms, clothing stores, jobs, even therapy, for goodness sake, our nonbinary youth are left excluded. HALF of these youth ATTEMPT suicide annually. Working for the transgender community is my passion. It’s my reason to do life everyday, in a world where I’ve had every privilege imagined (aside from one). The workforce is about to get slammed with a wave on gender nonconforming employees that will, again, be excluded if nothing’s done. I want to do something. I want to lead businesses in creating that inclusive environment for all, while securing a profitable future for themselves. Optimum Horizons is how I’ll do it and today’s the day I introduce this creation to you. Do you know a business in need? All of them? Spread the word! 🫶🏼📢

Workplace Transformation Strategist and Futurist #RemoteWorkPositive Transforming the world of work, one workplace at a time…
This happens to be one of the most needed, little known hiring programs around…. With more than 25% of our school aged children in this country having some form of diagnosis that falls into the category of #neurodivergence - these are the kinds of programs that can be a game changer for how we think about recruiting, hiring and retaining top talent in an inclusive way. Kudos to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for leading the way on this across the Intrlligence Community and I’m excited to see other agencies across the #federalgovernment accurate adoption of the same. Some great organizations like the Census Bureau have also created #neurodiversity #affinitygroups and #employeeresourcegroups to support their #workforce and encourage allyship #neurodiversityatwork #neurodiversity #inclusiveworkplace #inclusiveculture #employeeexperience #futureofwork #inclusivehiring #federalworkforce #workforcetransformation
NGA looks to build on ‘neurodiversity’ hiring effort

Sr. Accessibility Consultant & Advocate for Workplace Wellbeing | Empowering Queer, Neurodiverse & Disabled Professionals | #A11yWithAngela
"Congratulations on being in remission!!" I hear this a lot... but what people don't realize is that the battle isn't over yet... I have been in remission since October 2020 and yet, I feel the affects of cancer every single day. Just because the cancer has gone away (hopefully for good), doesn't mean that the battle is over. Post-cancer, I was immunocompromised. This meant that I had to leave my teaching position which I absolutely loved, to seek remote employment. This transitional journey took 7 months. That means for 7 months I was completely without a salary, and was unable to collect unemployment as well. Last year, when I found the incredible opportunity at Siteimprove, I thought I had found my professional forever happy place. Unfortunately, layoffs meant that I have been once again seeking employment. Fortunately, I am once again able to work in an office setting, to travel, and to be amongst colleagues because I take care of my body to the best of my ability. However, the stress of being laid off and out of work (so soon) takes a toll on me every day. Remember that the journey doesn't end when someone is declared a "cancer survivor." The next stage of our journey toward a fulfilling life is just beginning. Still seeking my next incredible opportunity in advocacy for the Queer, gender-diverse, Deaf, Neurodiverse, and invisibly disabled community!!! 🚀 💕 #Cancer #OpentoWork #Careers #HealthCare
