The #LogiSmile project, a dynamic European consortium of 13 organizations and institutions, has transformed this vision into reality with a groundbreaking autonomous logistics system. 🤖📦   Introducing Ona, the Autonomous Delivery Device (ADD), and RAION, the Autonomous Hub Vehicle (AHV) - two robotic vehicles that navigate city streets and pedestrian zones, making last-mile deliveries smoother than ever. During #RIDaysEU and #EICSummit24 held in Brussels last week we had a chance to meet in person #Nevomo team and their amazing stand presenting the futuristic idea of transport. Inspired by their railway innovation and the vision of the transport of tomorrow we are pleased to present you #MagRail in our series of #PolishSuccessStories! 🏆🚀🚅 ✅️ Nevomo, the Polish deep-tech company, developed the idea of the #NextGen of unique high-speed magnetic railway technology #MagRail that can be also used on existing railway tracks. Thanks to that, both existing tracks and an autonomous vehicle can operate on the same railway, allowing automation, electrification and full digitalization of the existing rail transportation systems. ✅️ Nevomo's passive magnetic levitation technology was identified as a key technology to rapidly improving Europe's long-distance transport network that brings significant benefits, e.g.: 🔸 zero-emissions 🔸 ultra-high speed 🔸 reduced costs 🔸 flexibility ✅️ They have come a long way from a startup student team to the company awarded with national grants from Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju and then becoming one of the best European railway deep-tech solution companies awarded from the #EICAccelerator European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), European Commission and many others awards.   ✅️ In December 2020, they built in Nowa Szarzyna in Poland PL almost 1 km long first 1:1 scale technology demo version. From 2021 they started the cooperation with Italian Rete Ferroviaria Italiana on a full-scale pilot. In 2022 they started cooperation with German Duisport DE and from 2023 they are cooperating also with French Groupe SNCF. ✅️ Nevomo is the first company in the world that propose a phased implementation of transportation systems, inspired by the hyperloop concept, by upgrading railway lines. However, their future goal is to develop a hyperloop concept which will require a new dedicated infrastructure. It will enable the vehicles to travel at up to 1,200 kph, near the speed of sound. A VTT-led project will improve public transport by creating new services and vehicle technologies that focus on passenger needs! 🔍🚌 🚍 The EU-funded project OptiPEx is responding to two trends: more people choosing public transport to reduce pollution and the move towards self-driving vehicles. The project will use advanced technology to make public transport safer, more comfortable, and more user-friendly. 🚍 “Our co-creation process, coupled with scenario-building techniques, will give us valuable insights into passenger needs and preferences and policy implications and trade-offs associated with different decisions. These insights in combination with advanced perception technologies and artificial intelligence solutions will serve as the main drivers of the OptiPEx developments,” explains VTT’s Johanna Kallio. 🚍 The project will test its solutions with real passengers, including those with special needs, in Finland, Austria and Germany. By working with other European initiatives, OptiPEx aims to make public transport better for everyone and help more people switch from cars to buses and trams.
