World Engineering day is today and has a focus on sustainability, so lets talk about windfarms. Windfarms are an excellent example of amazing engineering. I have choosen to purchase part of a wind farm to be sustainable and help with energy costs! Some fun facts about windfarms 💨 An average turbine blade is about 200 ft long 💨 Offshore wind speeds tend to be faster and more consistent than on land 💨 The wind energy sector can generate employment for four million people globally by 2030. The Afloat Technical Summit brought together industry leaders to discuss the promise and challenges of floating wind technology. These were the 3 main takeaways from the summit 👆

Potentially the largest offshore wind farm in the US has been given the go-ahead by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), clearing one of the obstacles to development. It has been very challenging to explain how hard and sometimes even impossible the repair work can be on a wind farm in Artic location. Quick fixes are the normal way of working for artic sites which are accessable only during spring and summer. Damages during hard season are usually fixed so that broader damage and Business Interruption is prevented / limited and the final repair works will be done when the weather allows. I really respect those insurance companies that have built their own internal knowledge around the Nordic wind energy. It is a great pleasure to work with you and feel safe if something happens.
